Use Cases and Deployment Scope

My organization uses Slack as our instant messaging tool, broadcast messaging tools and a way to keep up to date on various events within Salesforce that we deem noteworthy (e.g., Closed Won opportunities).

Usability

Slack is intuitive and easy to learn. There are also tons of trainings online if you need help.

Alternatives Considered

RingCentral Contact Center, Microsoft Teams and Zoom Contact Center

Slack works great with Salesforce and seems the most trendy. MS Teams has some more connectivity with the MS suite which is nice though and a bit more robust as a communication platform when using it for both chat and video. We use a combo of Zoom and Slack for internal communication because the video call features lack compared to other providers.

Slack’s great for quick check-ins, fast updates, and keeping teams in sync without flooding inboxes. It shines when paired with tools like Salesforce, sending updates right into your workflow. Plus, it’s awesome for team culture—think shoutouts, memes, and random fun.

It’s not built for deep thinking or documenting big decisions—things get lost fast. Sensitive convos? Better handled in person or over a call. And if you need to focus, all the pings can really get in the way.
