Overall Satisfaction with Splashtop

I manage several clients' I.T. accounts. I use the Splashtop product to allow me to keep their servers up to date with Windows Server updates as well as BIOS and driver updates. Allows me to work remotely 99% of the time. I am able to work on their systems at off-peak hours - allowing for zero downtime on the clients end.

Pros

  • The interface is very fast
  • Easy install if i have a new server/PC to access
  • The file transfer is easy and fast

Cons

  • The verification can be a bit challenging
  • Allows me to work remotely at any time
  • Saves cost of fuel to drive to/from client site
  • Very cost effective and lot of value for the money
I have not had to call support.
The reason i chose Splashtop was for the security. I had been using Remote Desktop and one of my clients got hacked (via the RD interface). I feel confident in the Splashtop security and love that there are several layers that can be implemented to allow even greater security and peace of mind.
The download and installation of this product is very easy. Once the account is setup, you can easily add/remove sites via the online portal. I would rank Spashtop in my top 10 apps that are easy to install/manage/update.
Yes - Remote Desktop - security is highly lacking in the product (especially for remote access outside the organization)

I like to use Spashtop on a server - can be accessed anytime and no user interaction required. I am not so inclined to use on a personal computer. In that case i usually go with the Windows Quick Assist. Requires a bit more user interaction (which i prefer for security and training reasons)
