Overall Satisfaction with Splashtop
After using another company's remote software for years, Splashtop is 4 times better. I love that it works on both Mac and PC, allowing for cross-platform compatibility. I've tried it and it works great. I wish Splashtop were a little bit faster, but the interface is great and easy to use, allowing you to simply log out without confusion and shut down your remote computer. Having dual screens on the remote computer, but accessing through one screen on a laptop, works fine. Tech support, I've used twice, and they have been super helpful with my issues and explaining the software/account. I am super happy with Splashtop!
Pros
- The interface of Splashtop is simple; the nav bar at the top makes it easy to see what software is on the computer you are using and which computer you are accessing.
- I have two accounts, and I combine them with one access admin, which is a super great configuration.
- It works well, and work has never failed me.
Cons
- I like the interface, just maybe make it easier or look better when you are going from screen 1 to screen 2 on the remote-accessed computer that has two screens.
- A point that one could make if they are not accessing a huge amount of files is that you don't have to run a NAS or network drive at the remote location.
- Negative- my cell phone company only allows a certain amount of data to be accessed while on a hotspot. Even though my phone has unlimited data, it is limited when I hook up a laptop to the phone using a wire via hotspot. I ran out of data in one day, for the entire month. So that is bad but perhaps i can investigate ways to limit the data access. But for an emergency need where I don't have to drive back to the office, it's a lifesaver.
I don't know how strong the encryption is.
From purchase to use, it was super fast (an hour, maybe, after talking with support). I was pleasantly surprised and enthusiastically used the software in record time.
Yes - Go To My PC does not compare in ease of use, speed, or price. Splashtop is, by far, superior in any regard you can compare.
