Overall Satisfaction with Splashtop
We use Splashtop for a few departments in our organization. The main users are IT, marketing and our drafting team. The main thing that I appreciate is it allow our drafters to use their own company computers to work remotely at an efficient level. It allows up to enable remote work without opening the security hole of a VPN.
Pros
- It does multi-screen displays nicely.
- The MFA is a great security measure.
- Users are easy to set up and not much support is needed after initial setup.
Cons
- Things can be clunky on the admin side,
- Splashtop has allowed up to keep churning out new/redesigned products even when our drafters/engineeers cannot be in the building.
I like that we can deploy a solution to users without having to have a VPN from our firewall. There are, seemingly, constant security patches for the vpn client being released. Splashtop is a secure solution in that we can allow only our user's ip addresses and can define the scope of who can get to what endpoints/servers. MFA is pretty much a must have at this point and setup was easy with the authenticator app we already use as an organization.
It took us an hour to get set up and have out 1st deployment done. Within a couple days we had most of our users that needed it up and running.
Yes - Cisco Annyconnect VPN
Cisco is constantly having security patches. This made us nervous about having the door always open with Cisco.
