Overall Satisfaction with SurveyMonkey

I organize surveys with SurveyMonkey and then use the information for presentations and research. Also, I use it for screenings inside my research when I need user interview participants. Technically, it is also a survey, but shorter and aims rather to find the right people than to get the information.

Pros

  • Organise a survey
  • Make different type of questions
  • Get the visualisation for the data of the survey

Cons

  • Very limited free version
  • No option to add sender name into invitation
  • No bulk downloads for some data
  • It fastens decisions
  • It speeds up the presentations for a team
  • Helps to implement the data-driven marketing
It can be a convenient decision for many tasks in the marketing department and also in the product team; it works well as a part of a research design. You can use it as a quick survey for quantitative research or as a screener to find the right participants for your larger research, such as a focus group or interview. But it might be a bit pricey if you want some advanced functions as a customisation or an a/b test.
SurveyMonkey has a visualisation, and for Google Survey, you have to download your data the some other program, like Looker. But Google Survey is fully connectable to Google Sheets, and Survey Monkey doesn't allow you to download your database, especially if it is free text from users (like the option "other answer"). So both solutions are good, but it is important to define a goal before choosing the right one.

Do you think SurveyMonkey delivers good value for the price?

Not sure

Are you happy with SurveyMonkey's feature set?

Yes

Did SurveyMonkey live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of SurveyMonkey go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy SurveyMonkey again?

Yes

If you need a simple template for a survey, SurveyMonkey will work well for it. But if you need a more complex design - randomize questions, complex algorithms, a/b tests, maybe it could be easier to find another instrument. Also, with the SurveyMonkey you can have visualised results, which can be used in presentation, but if you need to download a lot of answers which are not numeric - it can be a pain.
