Overall Satisfaction with Symantec Endpoint Protection
Initially, we used Symantec Endpoint Protection to cover our primary office and executive office for years, but recently we expanded to use it in all of our field-user laptops and store locations nationwide. Since expanding our use of it we have not had an actual virus infection present on any machine so it's definitely doing its job.
Pros
- It was easy to deploy.
- It was cost-effective for our organization.
- Seems to 100% block all known viruses.
Cons
- In really large deployments the GUI interface seems sluggish.
- Wish they wouldn't have got rid of the standalone software installed interface.
- Needs the ability to remotely stop an active scan.
- So far has 100% stopped virus/malware infections since we began using it large scale.
- Due to how effective it has been at detecting and stopping viruses it has made us more productive since we don't have to spend time dealing with infections.
- No negative impact that we have seen thus far.
We did use a mix of Symantec and ClamWin AV and after that a mix of Symantec and AVG for our store locations. We also tested Comodo and McAfee at one point. McAfee was too expensive for our budget and Comodo I believe just didn't deploy to our store locations easily. We did use ClamWin AV which was free for our store locations for some years but it could only detect and not stop or clean viruses so we had to move away from that. We then bought AVG for the store locations and it was honestly a nightmare, so many false detections, failed installs, settings that wouldn't take, etc so we got rid of it and deployed Symantec Endpoint to all those locations as well and never looked back.
