Overall Satisfaction with TrustRadius for Buyers

We were looking at ESPs (email service providers) and searching for other users' experiences working with companies like Salesforce's Cloud and Oracle Bronto, among other enterprise providers. Since I was the one who was going to make the final decision, trying to get some additional "independent" context to what every provider was saying about their competitors (as well as themselves) was so very important to me.
  • To understand my options (i.e. build my short list or long list)
  • To compare products
  • To validate vendor claims
  • To find evidence to support my recommendation to colleagues or my client
  • To see what other users think of the product I am currently using
How did I accomplish these goals? That is super simple, I read the reviews! I mean really, how else? :)
I found what many people wrote to be very helpful and was surprised at the depth of their answers, which was great.

I look for their personal experiences and personal feelings about the provider. How good is their support, how helpful are they, what kind of progress have they made with their platform over time? Things like that are super helpful. Users who write reviews after working with a vendor for some time, to me, are the most helpful.
The reviews helped me validate some gut feelings, and interestingly, pointed me to new issues (good and bad) that I should address, or at least think about, and gave me insight into what my experience could be.
  • I like that the reviewers seem to take their time to write their reviews.
  • I like how most review writers talk about their personal experiences, with more detail than I see elsewhere, which is great for me.
  • The reviewers also seem to have experience with what they are writing about.
  • Pricing information is often not as detailed as I would hope for. That is the biggest thing I wish were better.
  • I know it is hard to get reviews from people, but for some lesser known products, I wish there were more reviews.
Of course talking with vendors and their references. What helps a lot is reading TrustRadius reviews before talking to referrals. That really helped me formulate better questions.
I used other review platforms too, but TrustRadius is one I go to a lot. The depth of the reviews I found to be quite high, which I appreciated, Simply put, the more someone puts into a review, the more we get out of it. Seems kind of obvious. :)
My advice is to use the tool and take your time reading what our peers have to say.
