Overall Satisfaction with UserTesting
We use UserTesting for discovery interviews with users as well as for usability testing.
Pros
- Creating clips and highlight reels of recorded interviews--these really help you "land" the research findings with stakeholders.
- Capturing a blend of qual and quant in unmoderated interviews. They've been continuously improving the quality of visuals, so it can sometimes be a simple drag and drop into a report!
- The technical and account support teams are second to none. Response times and even resolution of issues is usually same day.
- They've come in to do product onboarding and trainings for our teams which allows our research team to keep driving research while expanding what our "people who sometimes do research" are able to take on.
Cons
- Need additional data visualizations for card sorts.
- Customize scales (5 pt vs 7 pt) for built in likert scale questions and customized responses for success question.
- We've used it heavily for discovery work -- building out personas and journey maps-- which has given product teams clear guidance on prioritization (which gets the right product in the hands of users faster) and have also allowed our research to reach a wider audience within the business and support operational goals outside of technology (at a overall cost savings to the business).
Everything we do, including research and testing in User Testing is about improving our products and services. Having a digital tool that allows us to work with internal users remotely gives us a wider foundation for testing than using internal users we can interview face-to-face. It's improved the quality (and reliability) of the research we are able to conduct, which gives us much more credibility with those who are making business decisions.
