Overall Satisfaction with Vista by Viewpoint

Vista by Viewpoint is used as our main project management software. Project Managers, Project Engineers, Project Assistants, & Project Accountants are the main daily users, but other users have access to the software and occasionally will utilize it. The problem it is used to address is documentation and project management through the course of a construction project. It excels in some instances but falls short in others.
  • Uniform processes and controls between different parts of the company, and different projects
  • Customization and ability to provide as much or as little information as desired
  • Very outdated interface
  • Little to no onscreen help or directions to help guide users
  • Positive - It helps organize and centralize the change order/billing process throughout the company.
  • Negative - There are a lot of potential roadblocks or user issues that can stop one from using the system until a more experienced or admin user can help out.
Vista by Viewpoint seems to have more options and abilities than something like Procore or PlanGrid, but without the fancy interface, constant updates, or easy to follow processes. A program like Procore or PlanGrid is easy to pickup and be proficient with as a new user, but Vista by Viewpoint requires a lot of training and experience in order to really be efficient with it.
Though I have not interfaced with Vista by Viewpoint's support team, I know my office has, and it seems like changes or issues are addressed or resolved in a timely manner. It also seems like the program has the flexibility to integrate or be changed to become a custom solution for our company.

Vista by Viewpoint is a good program for mid-sized to large construction companies that can set a process and keep it. It does seem a little "clunkier" than some of the other options available but it does appear to have more options and abilities than some of the "premier" construction administration tools out on the market.
