Overall Satisfaction with Visual Studio IDE
I am using Visual Studio IDE as part of a development team in a software organization where I am supervising the development as a project manager. It helps us to standardize the development environment among team members. We are using it for development of an application for cloud environment; however, it is able to develop mobile and desktop applications as well.
Pros
- Great IntelliSense
- Easy-to-use interface
- Standardization of development environment among team
Cons
- Hard to find or navigate some options/features for first time
- Very heavy and causes the system to slow
- Very large in size, occupies a lot of disk space
- High system configuration required for smooth operation
- IntelliSense helped to overcome the syntax errors, which reduced the time consumed in development and checking.
- It helped to standardize the development environment among team to allow them on same page.
- Being heavy, it makes it a must to have upgraded machines for smooth operations.
- Being huge, it requires you to have larger storage space.
- NetBeans and PhpStorm
I can't compare the NetBeans or PhpStorm with Visual Studio IDE due to entirely different use. All software development IDEs holds their importance, but Visual Studio IDE is the best among its competitors--the IntelliSense and standardization of development, in particular, are great. Overall, Visual Studio IDE is very powerful.
