Webex App: One of the best instant messaging apps for business
Overall Satisfaction with Webex App
As a remote worker who works on a non-remote team, it is incredibly important that I stay in touch with my teammates and others in the organization, both from a work and personal standpoint. I can use Webex App to ask how someone's weekend was, quickly follow up on a project, ask a quick question, or send a friendly reminder. Webex App acts as a virtual desk touch.
Pros
- Seeing someone's availability and status
- Integrating with my calendar and meetings
- Integrating with Giphy for fun gifs
Cons
- Easier group discussions, as default title is always "General" then the people listed, it can be difficult for some users to visualize who they are talking to if done quickly.
- The ability to set my status as "available" so people know they can reach out to me, even if I haven't been at my desk for 10 minutes.
- The ability to send a message based on someone's availability status (i.e. not in a meeting, or not presenting) rather than just time.
- Reduction in unnecessary wordy emails
- Reduction in interruptions to workflow
- Increase in comradery and a sense of belonging

- Cisco Secure Endpoint
Because I started remotely on a non-remote team, I was very concerned that I would be treated as an outsider, never thought of when problems arose, and simply receive a few assignments here and there without ever being fully integrated and accepted into the team. Cisco allowed me to continually stay in touch with everyone, which helped me become a go-to contributor.
As traveling has picked up after Covid, individuals are not always at their desks, meaning our organization has had to find other ways of communicating and staying in touch. Cisco has allowed the organization to keep projects moving forward even when everyone is not in the office. This results in quicker turnaround times.
A better work-life balance while still performing at a very high level. Gone are the days of meaningless watercooler talk, as we can share personal stories with the entire team in just minutes, maintaining a sense of belonging and comradery more efficiently. I can easily follow up on the status of a request while sitting in the school pickup line.
- Microsoft Teams and Slack
Microsoft Teams, while being built for more file sharing, completely misses the mark. I prefer Webex App which focuses on being a great chat tool, rather than trying to become something it is not.
Slack is preferred over Webex App, but just barely, and it is only because Slack has a slightly more intuitive group discussion function.
