Overall Satisfaction with Widen
We use Acquia DAM (Widen) as our asset management tool for all digital assets across the company. Before Acquia DAM (Widen), our digital assets across the whole company were scattered across countless locations, with no shared visibility into everything. Not everyone had access to all the drives where digital assets were stored, so we would have to rely on others to pull what we needed. And even if you did have access to the drive, it would be difficult to locate specific files since there was no way to lookup files by metadata--we would just have to go into the folders blindly and hope we find the file. Not only is Acquia DAM (Widen) a useful asset management tool for us, we also use it to create visually-striking custom portals that we can then utilize both internally and externally.
Pros
- Versatility when creating custom portals
- Easy link sharing for assets
- Metadata options
- Easy to follow folder structures
Cons
- Permissions
- Confusion around release date and expiration date
- More opportunities for helpful tips throughout the platform
- Improved visibility
- Better collaboration
- Streamlined processes
As we're still migrating files to Widen, we're finding new ways every time to better tag our files and put them in places that make more sense. We have some custom portals created right now for our internal team and are working on launching more. Eventually, we will work on creating custom portals that our customers can use.
