I have a master's in web design and find WordPress straightforward to use. For a colleague of mine with limited web technology, they at first found the interface overwhelming. WordPress is the best in the business. It is the most customizable and versatile web software. I would recommend it for nearly everyone from a small business to a large corporation. I use their free blog for my personal site. For an art portfolio or microsite, another drag and drop platform such as SquareSpace may be more user-friendly if you have limited web experience. It does require some tech saavy to use WordPress but once you understand the system the options are limitless.
