Overall Satisfaction with Xactly Incent

It is used as the main commission plan for our entire organization (i.e. sales and recruiting). The modules are nice so sales can forecast and predict what they need or where they are at to move into the next category or how well they are doing.
  • It's nice to avoid any manual errors in calculating commissions.
  • Sales team can see exactly where they are at and how they can forecast for the future.
  • The team feels as if they have more data at their hands.
  • The modules for recruiting are not as vast as the ones for sales.
  • Because it is a plug and chug, any exceptions made or odd circumstances cannot be captured by Xactly and trying to do a work around actually provides to be troublesome sometimes.
  • The system is very finicky, in that things have to be done in a specific step by step order or the calculations will be off.
  • Overall it does prevent commission errors that need to be corrected in later months
  • Because now we are double checking with the manual way we do commissions as well as Xactly it does take more time. We tried just doing Xactly which was great at first but we ran into some discrepancies.
  • The users need to be trained on how to use it and some still struggle with building out the module for them.
We have changed our comp plans if even slightly yearly. It gives the employees a goal to attain and where they should be focusing their efforts. It's nice for them to have the tool at their hands and see "if I have one more deal at this rate I can move into the next tier."
Unfortunately this is a tool of Xactly that we don't utilize enough. We really don't use it to its full potential.
It's nice because it pulls the data "rates, margins, timesheets, etc." directly from our Salesforce platform so less manual errors trying to move the data over manually.

In some aspects it does all the calculations and avoids human errors, but it is also a oiled machine where trying to make exceptions or special circumstances are not captured well.

For our organizing we still do it as manually and within the system just to double check work on both ends. For a larger organizing I can see the doing it both ways no working well, but be aware sometimes a small edit or glitch in a rule could offset the entire commission.
