Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Zoom Workplace as the primary video conferencing platform for our organization. As a company with a hybrid workforce, providing the ability for team members to communicate both in-office and remotely is very important. We've deployed several Zoom-compatible solutions across our office in order to improve meeting options for employees, as well as have Zoom Phone in place as a replacement for traditional phone services.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Connection quality and consistency is very good
Zoom products are easily available and accessible across different devices
Phone service has worked well
Zoom Rooms have been a winning solution for our hybrid team members

Cons

We've yet to embrace the group messaging solution available from Zoom -- Slack is still a winner in this category but it would be nice to consolidate
Zoom Rooms sometimes experience problems communicating between the main device in a room and its associated controller
Third party AI notetaking tools seem to work better but would be well suited to be rolled into Zoom

Return on Investment

Consolidating to one video calling platform has been very beneficial
Zoom has greatly helped us support our hybrid team, allowing in-office and remote employees to more easily communicate
Zoom Rooms have largely worked well for our office meeting spaces

Alternatives Considered

Google Meet and Slack

The videoconferencing features of Zoom seem to be much more mature and feature rich than Google and Slack's offerings. The messaging platform of Slack is on a different tier than Zoom's product. We have both but it would be nice to consolidate these to one platform.

Especially post-COVID, Zoom has been a great solution for our organization and its hybrid team members. We struggled to shift from a fully in-office workforce--where meetings almost always happened in person--to one where meetings could take place in a conference room that included both in-office and remote employees. We replaced our traditional phone system at the about the same time, which has been very beneficial again for a hybrid workforce.
