It is very well suited for a mid-level organization that has limited data and that does not require very complex analysis by integration with other software and data analysis. It is also very good to have a holistic view of financial analysis, accounts payable, receivables, payroll management, and other financial areas. It would not be very suitable when it requires integration with other software and tools, this could be one area of improvement. It can have better API's.

Basecamp

Basecamp is well developed, lets you manage project easily without any problems. It has multiple categorizations so that team members can work on an individual category without any clashes with other members. Easily manages tasks, you can move one task from one category to another if you have placed it in the wrong category. It is the easiest conversation saver in order to stay on track and maintain the flow of project sharing messages back and forth. It also helped us by saving our documents and client files on a central location so that we can get any file whenever we require. It is easy to use and compatible with many devices. It has great features like :

  • Excellent UI that is easy to use. All features are a breeze.
  • Because of the depth at which it has data, it can be used very well.
  • Its integration with other ERP software is also possible for better analysis.

  • What I like the most is that it serves as a repository of everything shared and discussed during a project.
  • Basecamp is a really good tool if you are working on a project with a remote team of three or more people.
  • You can invite external and internal people to a basecamp project.
  • You can assign task to people within the team and keep track of what's been finished or not.

Cons

  • The customer support is very slow because I have to wait for more than 3 to 4 working days in order to get the email back from the company although it is usually the standard. I hope they can provide some changes to it in the future.
  • It costs a bit more to understand how the software works.
  • Most of the UI is fine, except a few area that require training.

  • Samepage really has a better collaboration messaging system with channels and integration with other systems.
  • There is some functionality with linking google docs but would like to see better integration with a more wide range of applications or office suite products since we mostly use this for working with external vendors that use a vast range of products as well.
  • To Do lists are great, but would like to see better linkage to the messages, schedules and files. Sort of an overly complex request to a very simple process.

Basecamp is a solid tool that enhances our team's effectiveness. I am always open to something better - but Basecamp will be hard to top. Our clients appreciate being able to collaborate online (especially those out-of-town) and our remote-work teams can effectively communicate, collaborate, and implement strategy from just about anywhere. It's been a great tool to use when collaborating with partner agencies as well - the workflow transfer is seamless.

I find it extremely easy to use, though as a tech-savvy person, it takes some fairly obnoxious software for me to have difficulty. However, I have found that occasionally some clients don't understand how the subject line and discussion body work when creating a new post, and sometimes have difficulty understanding where to respond and will create new threads with feedback, rather than replying on the old one. I don't think Basecamp can help this, however, without severely annoying those of us who find it highly intuitive.

Decide the process before implementation - i.e. when it's due 8/9 does that mean 8am, noon, 5pm, 11:59pm? Check your to-do list frequentlySet-up templates - just not with the dates (they can be funky)

Alternatives Considered

24SevenOffice has its own pros and cons just like any other software. It is a great software for an organization to do project management or financial management. It stacks up very competitively against others and is probably in the top 3. the UI that is offered by this software surpasses all the others that I have used and/or mentioned above. It is a breeze to understand most parts of the software by yourself. I think in terms of support there could be some improvement that can be possible and will result in much better feedback from its clients. Overall I give it a great rating in terms of usability and capability to handle the majority of business management, project management, and financial management features.

Samepage and Slack are just a few steps ahead with its messenger and communication platforms and is leagues behind when it comes to integration with other systems. However, most systems can be redundant when attempting to accomplish something that caters to a non-technical audience or something more geared towards the "classic" project management platform (such as Microsoft Project). For a reduction in emails and company wide or group communications, basecamp can do just as well as Samepage and Slack but when it comes down to managing resources, time management, gantt charts and more granular project management functions; Basecamp just doesn't do well as the Asana, OpenProject or OrangeScrum. More technical or software development projects should be avoided when using Basecamp from my experiences while using it

  • the ROI on this software is definitely positive. It saves time on accounting and bill payments.
  • The corporate structure uses this system for managing employee expenses that are borne by the company and keeps accurate results of all expenses
  • Overall a great software that can be used for a long-term basis for mid-level complexities.

  • Basecamp has allowed us to work better with third party vendors or suppliers on projects by providing more transparency and in return have seen quicker response times when tasks are relying on one team or the other.
  • The costs are low but they do not outweigh the benefit to use Basecamp as an internal system for project management.
  • The time saved on avoiding wasted meetings for simple updates has been more than beneficial on a time management perspective.
