ABBYY FineReader

[ABBYY FineReader is well suited] to edit advanced documents that contain text, images, tables, columns among others, I used it when I have a large text file and they ask me to go in editable file type like docx, Another common use is when in documents there is personal or sensitive information that should not be public knowledge and you want to cure or erase this information without prejudice to the understanding of the background of the document.

Conga Composer

[Conga Composer is well suited for] email, document, and report generation. We are also considering migrating from DocuSign to CongaSign as the pricing model makes a lot more sense for our business model.I have tried their newer processes for template building and prefer the manual approach, but I would say you need a somewhat technical person if you want to create highly custom solutions.

Conga Composer

  • We use Conga primarily for document generation.
  • An example is Generation of Proposals
  • Another example is generation of quotes
  • We have also used Conga to generate invoices
  • At times we have used Conga to generate formal documents for Govt purposes. Essentially any type of document that is based on Salesforce data is a good use case for Conga.

Cons

ABBYY FineReader

  • A versioning system of the work done or the editions that have been saved in the files, or a tracking of changes between one version and another would be fabulous
  • An improvement that would be asked would be as previews or suggestions of the type of file that could be beneficial to use in an edition
  • The redesign of the panels is that of the analyzed document, the edition and the changes in my opinion need a resizing to have a better view of the work

Conga Composer

  • While it is a much easier experience than using code to arrive at a document solution, it can still get VERY technical. Beyond the click and drag style of document that you see in the demonstrations.
  • When it goes wrong, finding out WHERE it has gone wrong can be maddening. There is a lot of support out there but that sometimes translates to a vast amount of options to investigate when troubleshooting.

Alternatives Considered

ABBYY FineReader

Although both have functionalities that they share, in ABBYY FineReader they are better implemented, they have a better performance, in addition to being a more intuitive and simple user that makes their learning curve relatively simple, it is as if the options I need are always available. the hand and not within complicated menus or overloaded interfaces

Conga Composer

I think Nintex is the primary competitor for Conga Composer, but I have not personally used it. I was not present for the decision to purchase Conga but I would recommend it in future document automation vendor selection processes because I have seen how well it works! We are especially fond of complementary features in Conga Composer, including Conga Email Templates and Conga Global Merge.

  • Great positive impact on productivity as it helps to avoid spending so much time scanning or editing documents
  • Staff use the time saved with this tool on the substantive tasks of their position
  • Our objective, being a public institution, is of a benefit to the population and not commercial, therefore everything that we add to perform efficiently and effectively, our work is always well appreciated.

  • It provided a consistent quote template...everyone's quotes looked like we wanted them to.
  • It protected data integrity by controlling the output formats (i.e. PDF vs. Word).
  • It worked seamlessly behind the scenes making it easy for the team to be self sufficient generating documents.
