Smartlook

I would recommend Smartlook as it is appropriate for any new website to understand how the overall users interact with the different aspects of the website. Smartlook is great for instances when you have to segment and catalog the extremely fine information of the user as well as review their application behavior. It is an especially great tool for newcomers because it broadens their horizons quite a lot.

  • Tealeaf is exceptionally useful for troubleshooting technical issues and investigating conversion problems. It gives you the ability to look at individual sessions, so that you can see exactly what steps the customer has taken to cause the problem. This way you can recreate errors, or determine if the layout of the site is confusing the customer and preventing sales.
  • Tealeaf allows you to create alerts to track specific problems. For example you can set an alert if the error handler on the site fires more than 5 times in 15 minutes, or if the completion rate of a specific process drops below a certain percentile. This lets your production support group get a jump on problems and gives them a chance to start working on a solution before the business users or the site help desk have reported the issue.
  • Tealeaf allows you to create reports and dashboards to track activities on your site. You can set these up to monitor sales, sign-ups, errors, traffic load, just about anything. You can arrange to have these reports sent by e-mail, so business users can be kept up to date on the status of the web site.
  • There are scorecards in Tealeaf that allow you to create reports to track a series of events. This let you see where people are falling out of a process so you can determine where customers are struggling and improve the customer experience.
  • It's possible to shadow-browse a customer's web session, allowing a help desk analyst to provide better customer service by seeing what the customer is seeing and following along with their session.

  • It has all the best features to have on the platform for the websites to do well on the internet.
  • I have been using this platform in my organization for a very long time and it has been the best choice in handling analytics of website.
  • The best features of Smartlook which amazes me while using it that it gives me an understanding of the micro-level, which is beyond amazing.

Smartlook

  • It would be nice to be able to categorize or sort the recordings into sections, such as "Improvements, Useful Interactions, Positive Experience" etc. - so the information could be easily sorted out & used.
  • I would like to flag recordings so I could review them again, or make notes on them.
  • It seems to take awhile for the recordings to load, especially when you click ahead in the recording.

It's fairly simple to get started with Smartlook as a beginner. You will be able to see the most important video recording results straight away. It gets a little more involved if you want to start using more complex features, but they do provide help with explainer videos to guide you

We have not used Smartlook's Support yet, but we have used Smartlook's excellent documentation and walkthroughs for set-up and when we have questions. Smartlook walks you through the setup process with easy-to-understand tooltips, walkthroughs, and answers to frequently asked questions. Smartlook's documentation made setup and maintenance of our sites incredibly easy!

Smartlook

We use both tools. While analytics gives more sophisticated tracking / KPI options, Smartlook is more valuable to understand website visitor behavior and UX improvements you want to look into. Smartlook is also more intuitive to set up and use in my view.

  • Provides context to developers - As with pretty much any programmer, they need context of user activity leading up to a problem in order for them to debug code. TeaLeaf does a great job of doing that. We can identify a problem in the code, search for a TeaLeaf (and Java application session) that has the problem in it and show the developers what the user was doing when the problem happened. This greatly speeds up the time to resolution.

  • We found out that people look for functions on our websites that we have not put there. e.g. they wanted to enlarge a photo and that was not possible.
  • We found out that pepole are a bit disoriented in our e-shop cart, that was why our sales were low. After adjusting the cart our sales went up by 3%.
  • We found out what categories our clients were looking for in our e-shop. We realized some categories were missing.
