ADP TotalSource

ADP TotalSource is my company's PEO. Being an HR department of one, the support I received from the was worth its weight in gold. They have so many resources already in place that I was able to make use of instead of researching and creating myself. One part of having them as a PEO that I wasn't a fan of, was the limitations we had in choosing our benefit carriers. They had contracts with two health carriers to choose from. So if we weren't happy with rates, there was only so much room to negotiate, at the carriers knew that.

Pros

  • The prebuilt reports were excellent
  • TotalSource came with the Employee Service Center support - the best part of TS
  • The software integrated with our time keeping system which made payroll a little easier

  • Paycor's Ready Clock product does a good job for us in tracking our time and attendance for our shop employees.
  • Paycor's payroll product is easy to use and anytime we have any issues our Paycor payroll specialist team is available and is able to assist us quickly in resolving the issue.
  • Paycor's HR module is a good source of information for us.
  • Paycor's custom reporting is useful to us in pulling together adhoc reports using payroll information.

Cons

  • While the prebuilt reports were great, I would have to contact TS in order to get a custom report. This only happened a few times because like I said, they had a variety of prebuilt reports that fit my needs
  • iReports was implemented and it became more difficult to find employee paystubs and find YTD pay

  • We are a small company and our payroll, HR requirements are fairly straight forward. To date Paycor has done a good job of meeting our needs so I really cannot think of any improvements that we would require at this time.
  • We have run into issues using Paycor through Internet Explorer which was the mail internet tool we used but switching over to Foxfire or Chrome solved the issue. It would be nice if it worked better with Internet Explorer.

Sometimes (depending on the rep) they will not get back with you in a timely manner. The upside is that most anyone on the phone can answer and help with any issues. I shouldn't always have to call though to get a response. However, our rep April is fantastic!

Make sure Paycor realizes the importance of having your GL set up and to you in a timely fashion. Ours was so delayed, I had to approach our salesperson from Paycor and get him to push the issue up several management levels.

Alternatives Considered

Paychex is probably the worst system I have used. It's not intuitive at all and is lacking in so many key areas of a good HRIS. I think UltiPro is a system that stacks up against ADP TotalSource the best. But again, ADP TotalSource will be what I choose because of their customer service for not just me but our employees. Their support is second to none!

Return on Investment

  • Employee satisfaction with the Employee Service Center was high
  • TotalSource's employee support is like having a PT HR employee on staff!
  • At times, if I needed a tailored report, it would take time to get ADP to build it for me and get it back. Not a lot of time, but not as easy as doing it myself.

  • We just kicked our three goals for the year with Vacation Accruals. Next is ATS/Onboarding and Paycards. So far the vacation process was a little rocky at first but again now it is just me micromanaging the accruals. This would have been a time save if the glitch did not occur in the set up side of things.
