I think it all depends on what the client is looking for. I mean we have been using Vantage for the last 6 years and it has come a long way from where it started. The nice thing is we have been able to grow with it and configure things to how we need them to be for our business. So each business needs are going to be different and ADP Vantage can keep up with those needs.

Pros

  • ADP Vantage is great because all the data is in one location, there is no exporting or importing employee data. For employees this is also a benefit as it's one place to go for everything they need, to record time, update tax withholding, setup direct deposit, update contact information etc.
  • I absolutely love the report writing, especially the new tools that ADP has introduced such as the "Field Grabber". It makes it so easy to create and run a quick report as needed. Even our least experienced users have commented how easy it has become to use reporting in ADP.
  • The New User Experience, (MyADP) although is new and not yet completely rolled, out will be a great benefit for employees and for managers who have 5 or less direct reports. The design is so user friendly where there are no instructions needed.
  • Its so easy to manage the user access, and make changes as you need it. The security gives you lots of flexibility. Just today I had a Practitioner who was going to take over the responsibility of a second location's payroll. To give her the correct access to the second location took less than 2 minutes to set up and apply to her profile.

Cons

  • The product is sold as fully integrated but it is not. The Recruiting Management module isn't considered part of Vantage by the ADP team members. And, the look and feel of it is very different than the other modules. And, it is very difficult to use.
  • The Performance Management module is designed to support a very traditional approach to performance management and it is very rigid. It's very difficult to support more progressive ways of developing performance and keeping employees motivated.
  • The configuration/implementation was extremely painful. Implementation consultants vary wildly on their knowledge of their own modules and almost none of them understand how what is built in their module might impact configuration in other modules.
  • Five months post go-live we continue to have significant issues. Many of which seem to arise when updates are made by ADP.

sometimes I wish there was a better alternative - it is a good product but very expensive and we don't always receive the level of support that could be expected when paying such a high premium - we were basically forced to migrate onto this new platform that does more than we want as a payroll only client but were not given an alternative - this newer and better product had to be customized to perform tasks we expected to be standard and required a lot of our time and effort to manage at higher costs and our level of support reduced - was not a very satisfying experience - although it now functions as needed and most of the time it is ok - there are very basic issues which should have been resolved in beta testing that are a constant frustration - hope more time and planning is being put into whatever is currently in development to avoid this in next 'upgrade' of the product

when required to move from PayForce to Vantage we expected to have greater functionality and reporting - did not expect to be forced to move to a product that was not ready, provided less functionality, required more dependence on ADP Service Rep for day to day function and cost more - was a big swing and a miss for ADP

Pages do load pretty swiftly, and reports do not take too long. However, I have noticed that most reports become available sooner than some. Which if you are trying to process payroll, it may slow you down and tends to be time consuming when you're in a crunch

Per my earlier note. The customer support and the Customer community (Bridge) is not great. There are no location user groups for customers to get together and collaborate aside from MOTM which is a good conference but expensive. The enhancement request process seems to go no-where when you vote up an issue. Workday does this better. Roadmaps are often pushed out -- functionality does not get pushed out often enough. ADP seems to have too many products to support and the focus should be on one or two platforms. We regret choosing Vantage over Workforce Now for this very reason. The older platforms seem to be more stable and the knowledgeable support is more readily available. Even the Bridge is focused on the older products.

In-Person Training

I personally did not receive in-person training. I do know that person to person interaction is more efficient versus self taught and online training. The instructor can work at your pace, and you will be able to ask more questions to better understand the system and how it works. I also prefer in person training overall.

A lot of set ups vary from company to company so parts of our training we found it difficult to relate it to our processes. They have TONS of training modules available and a streamlined process for what you should complete and when. Would have been helpful to have onsite training for how much one pays for the system.

Our organization chose ADP Vantage HCM in order to eliminate the on premises solution of PeopleSoft as well as to outsource payroll processing. The cloud based, fully integrated solutions that the Vantage product line offers allows us to have a true "one-stop shop" for all our HR systems.

  • Less paper
  • More efficient use of time for the ESS users
  • The software is very new. There are a lot of improvements they should make. We are still working through all of the software's "youth". It does have potential to be good as it matures.
