For a small employer, with very little turnover and few benefit options, ADP may be too costly for the benefit. There are many affordable payroll providers available for small organizations.For large employers with many benefits options, employees in multiple locations, multiple tax jurisdictions and varied pay types (salary, hourly, commission, etc), ADP is ideal. The extended customer service hours, extensive resources for international pay, and capability for multi state taxation is crucial for an international employer.

Payroll by Wave is a simple tool - and of course it requires you to be inside the Wave ecosystem. So if you are invoicing and accounting with Wave, you are probably a small mom 'n pop setup in search of low-maintenance and cost-effective software. Payroll is a good complement to your Wave account.

  • The interface is extremely straightforward, and our employees love the simplicity involved in requesting time off, changing direct deposit information, using various calculators, and viewing pay statements.
  • The support is excellent with knowledgeable representatives.
  • Payroll Processing is quick and accurate, easy to preview, with exception reporting capabilities that support our benefit transmittal, reconciliations, and G/L interfacing.

ADP Workforce Now

  • We are unable to make HR changes once a payroll period is open which means that we often have to wait until the last minute to open a period which is difficult.
  • The inability to keep more than two weeks open at a time is problematic for our organization. We pay on a semi-monthly basis and it is hard sometimes to close a week because any changes by supervisors have to be in before you open a new pay period.
  • Implementation time to set up is very long and strenuous. Making changes to time and attendance policies and other systematic changes can be difficult and time consuming.
  • It feels at times as if the shifts between the different modules don't work as well as they were sold to us. Such as Time Off and Time and Attendance can cause many error messages that are confusing to supervisors and staff.

  • Payroll is a paid feature at $10 + $4/employee per month. I suppose this is a normal expense, but other payroll systems I've used, such as ones built into online banking, have cost me a fraction of this.

ADP has gone back to the designated "team support" module for clients on the newer versions of WFN, and the introduction of "The Bridge" has just added additional resources for problem resolution. It is a blog of current users who can share ideas/solutions in real time. And open case numbers are relatively east to track, and will allow the clients to view status of specific cases in the near future. We currently have no open items!

It provided step-by-step procedures on where you would need to log in your hours as well as what you would need to highlight (i.e. regular, overtime, etc.) detailing the type of hours that were worked overall. Either assign more than one specialist to the implementation process, or assign less clients to the implementation specialist. The process requires attention to detail and the ability to test and re-test as well as verify the information. It also requires a lot of back and forth between the client ant the implementation specialist, so they need to be readily available during the whole implementation process.

ADP Workforce Now

ADP Workforce Now is NOT ADP's most impressive product (previous versions like ADP Enterprise were far superior) but ADP in general is my preference. Systems I have used:Ceridian- The Payroll Tax function/reporting/filing/amendment process was not as strong as ADP. HR was an afterthought. Workday- I was not impressed with their Payroll module, or Payroll Tax Table/Setup. The HCM module was fantasticADP Enterprise- Very consistent all around. Great support model, massive Reporting capabilities, global ability (used ADP Streamline and maintained headcount for 16 countries with no issues)

We moved away from Wave as most of our contractors are time-based, and Wave flat out refuses to provide time tracking features. We tried integrations, but the pricing/complexity goes up and reliability goes down when integrating systems which were not intended to communicate. We since moved to Avaza and sacrificed Payroll for more robust time tracking, project management, and a very open feature development process

ADP Workforce Now

  • ADP Workforce Now has really moved our organization into a self-service model. We utilize mobile access, iPay, employee engagement via the Portal, etc.
  • The complete separate between HR and Payroll is very challenging and, to be honest, unacceptable. We have learned to work with it but it is a very poor model for Corporate America. But, ADP knows this and will no longer sell this product. Anyone converting to ADP now will have the latest and greatest which hopefully will meet the reporting/functionality of their biggest competitors.
  • The most positive area of WFN is Benefit Administration. It does it all and is very easy to use.
