If you are working with a tool where tracking actions taken by users in that tool is very important. In tools with very few users and not a ton of custom editing, this may not be necessary

- Very user-friendly and easy to understand even for those with not much knowledge
- The interface is nice looking
- Different charts are used to analyze different types of data

- Great control over custom reports, custom dimensions and metrics
- Flexible tool which allows multiple methods of data capture. To my knowledge it was the first tool with a Tag Builder / Tag Management function built in via a supporting website.

- Marketing and Sales actions are on separate objects.
- events can be unreliable as both software update and change. Sometimes they can stop triggering and it's not immediately acknowledged

- If using web server logs, you're able to re-analyze historical data - but it takes time and careful planning/execution.
- It would be great to have a fully implemented public test profile to send potential clients to see all the product's features
- Wish it supported Microsoft HyperV virtualization. Last time I checked, only VMWare was supported for virtualization of on premises installations.

The v9 admin interface and v10 reporting interface work as well as expected, but have a tendency to be pokey, especially for bulky reports and whenever you're connected to wifi. I much prefer using the REST API for all reporting for this reason, which simply dumps out the data and doesn't bother with the user interface.

Careful planning and patience. Use a non-public test site to fine tune tags and reporting. Despite best laid plans, there will be surprises when you collect the data, run the analysis and begin generating reports using the tool. Perform a tag audit to ensure tags fire as desired.

Alternatives Considered
Amplitude Analytics is an easier tool to use. It requires less knowledge of SQL and as long as you have notions of data analysis and retrieving data in general. It is much more user-friendly and allows for easy and quick reporting. It can be used by different teams and therefore can be an easily shareable tool.

- Webtrends is able to identify the source of each visit and create reporting on user behavior. We're able to attribute activity from a variety of sources to determine effectiveness. The REST API is invaluable for pulling large volumes of trended data to identify where notable events occur.
