Better phone systems than Comcast. More streamlined and easier to use than Solutionreach with a more focused feature set. Integrates with Nextech. Solutionreach does have the best custom appointment reminders and recall email marketing functionality in the HIPPA-compliant …
Epic is very good on the medical side and continues improving mental health and dental care. Having integrated telehealth via Zoom was a game-changer. During COVID, it was vital to have telehealth options and to ensure it was completely HIPAA Compliant and easy to document inside their health record.
I would stay away from this company. Not sure why the change, but over the past 2 years literally every level of the organization from tech support through to the CEO has shown complete lack of responsiveness, concern or interest in solving their most loyal client's most basic problems. Their incompetence finally drove us to cancel our accounts after over 10 years with them.
Weave integrates with Nextech which is a nice tech stack setup for phone, EMR, text messaging, appointment reminders, voicemail, etc. It would also work well for small medical practices that can use it as an all-in-one system and aren't super worried about tracking where patient leads are coming from (Weave is not a CRM or marketing automation platform). For larger, more complex organizations, they may find a greater need for enhanced integrations with a CRM or marketing automation platform which is not a strong suit of Weave
There are doctors' notes templates with prepopulated fields in them. This saves a lot of time.
Epic sends medication orders to pharmacies electronically so that we do not have to call. This saves a lot of time.
Epic has a Secure Chat feature via which we can send HIPAA protected messages to any employee with the patient's name and record attached.
It has a PDMP link. We can look up what controlled medications such as opiates patients have been prescribed and by whom.
It links to MyChart, which is a platform via which patients can look up their own information without them having to call the doctors. This saves a lot of time.
SR will email, text or call your appointments as many times or as few as you want to remind them of their appointments with you. * Ours are set to 2 days before and 2 hours before the appointment.
You can set up SR to recall patients and remind them they need to schedule an appointment if they have not been seen in your office. * When we first turned this on we had to set the recurrence WAY out because we received so many appointments we became booked 4 months out. It is now set to every 12 months.
This one saves you money on the cost of postcards and stamps not to mention the time it takes your staff to put them all together.
Group Messages are the BEST! This enables your office staff to notify patients for a whole day or week about a closing, delay or any changes in your schedule with one quick email instead of someone having to take home a print-out and make these calls from home.
Visual Updates: While Epic is constantly improving the user experience, there are a few features that still need a design refresh. While this does not effect functionality, it does have an impact on user perception.
Ordering: While placing an order for a physician is very easy, a few changes to the workflow could improve the experience for physicians.
Landline versus mobile and email. If a patient has a landline and an email or a landline and a mobile number it automatically eliminates the landline confirmation. Some of our eldery patients don't like or know how to text but they have a cellphone. I have a multitude of patients I still have to make a confirmation phone call to because SR won't send a landline call because they have a mobile number.
Newsletter editing. Wish it was a little easier to edit. That being said I do love the overall selection and use of Newsletters.
You should invest time into taking a training class before using Epic, but once you get the hang of it the usability features are endless! My favorite part about Epic is how it is automated and "trained" to catch user errors that would typically be missed in normal documentation/charting. This ensures accuracy and eliminates errors.
The initial training was good but would have been even better had I been more familiar with the system before taking it. I found learning how to deal with Epic while working in the field at the same time was a (pardon the pun) Epic learning curve. I really think there should be a scribe who does the data entry and others can focus on what they do best.
Epic gives extensive customization options in terms of utility and view. I have found this to be highly useful and efficient EHR as compared to other EHRs we use in our organization.
Solutionreach, in my opinion, is more user-friendly. They are also very quick to offer a helping hand in areas that might stump us. I also love that unlike Demandforce when we were using it Solutionreach is always on top of things. If for some reason our server has an issue and they don't receive the upload they need with our information someone is on the phone calling me to let me know. This is not the case with all software systems most don't inform you, you have to call for help when you notice that it hasn't uploaded with the data. This could put you weeks behind on your correspondence.

Being able to track and document all of our services in the same place has made an exceptional improvement in continuity of patient care, both internally across departments (medical/dental/mental health) and externally with specialists and other healthcare organizations on a national scale.
Continuous improvements in Data reporting and analytics make tracking and implementing quality improvement measures throughout the year easy.
Massive improvements to the ELLA training platform, combined with detailed and interactive training materials for all system areas, make onboarding and staff training much easier!
Increased revenue from appointments that may have been missed had they not received a confirmation or reminder call about an appointment. Able to fill that spot with someone else...
Keeps our physicians in the forefront of the patients minds when thinking about healthcare for their child.
We take pride in being a part of a family in assisting them with the care of their children. So birthday reminders and fun flyers or newsletters allow us to stay connected.
