PagerDuty, Inc. (NYSE:PD) provides digital operations management. Serving organizations of all sizes, PagerDuty aims to help them deliver a perfect digital experience to their customers, every time.
Well suited to Emergency Communication, particularly as an initial alert to a potential or realized disruption. As a notification service, however, it operates predominantly as a one-way communication tool and doesn't allow for individual responses to be recorded. The ability to having a two-way communication channel would speed up response times in an emergency situation and negate the reliance on supplementary applications.
To be sincere, PagerDuty is a powerful, intelligent, and dependable on-call and incident management tool that provides amazing solutions to our company. Therefore, if someone is looking for reliability and accuracy in incident management, I will not hesitate to recommend PagerDuty. It is easy to use, and it will give you value for money.
The UI is more complex than I would like. Part of the challenge is that most users use PagerDuty infrequently; I don't remember how I changed a policy last time. Another part of the challenge is that some users expect alerting to be a trivial feature, and are reluctant to invest any time in reading the documentation.
Everbridge has training materials that they email out to let us know how the platform is continuing to grow and expand its capabilities. They also periodically offer webinars to let us know the latest. I rate it a 10 because they let us know in these periodic emailing and webinars that we can reach out to them anytime if there's ever an issue. If you accidentally delete someone, for 30 days you can go back in and reinstate that person.
PagerDuty is reliable and easy to set up. It gives an effective way to notify the team about critical incidents which results in a faster turnaround time on issues. users can customize their alerts rules based on their preferences. Overall it's effective and easy to use which adds great business value.
We were previous users of iModus and migrated to Everbridge as a matter of course when the latter acquired the former. Some research into emergency communication messaging was carried out before we engaged with iModus, but it was so long ago that the other products on the market have been forgotten. Suffice to say, we have been extremely satisfied with both iModus and Everbridge and have not seen the need to assess the 'competition' since being a client of them.
OpsGenie was useful, mainly for teams already using Atlassian tools, and xMatters was good for handling team communication during incidents, but PagerDuty felt more complete for managing the full incident process in one place. We went with PagerDuty because it manages alerts, escalations, and on-call duties in a more organized and dependable way, which fits better with how our teams work daily.
