If you are looking for a strong product that is highly customizable, Onebox is a great choice. It can be difficult to navigate, but almost every feature you would need is included somewhere.

Orum
Orum is especially well-suited for companies that have high top-of-funnel activity metrics. High-velocity and high-volume sales are more easily facilitated by Orum. Orum is especially useful for industries where cold calling still means conversion. Orum is a must-have in any early-stage startup's tech stack.

OpenPhone
If you have more than 2 people in your organization, then this will save you so much time. Delegation is the key to starting a business. Even when you're a 1 person show, being able to present to your user base the differentiation of options for client communications is critical. As a founder, feeling compelled to be always on is something I strive not to be. OpenPhone gives you that flexibility. I have found it to be less appropriate in complex HIPPA compliant areas, but that is it. OpenPhone really does seem to suit an open array of use cases.

Cons
Ziff Davis Inc
  • The scheduling is very granular, but the interface for setting up the schedule isn't the easiest to navigate.
  • I would like the ability to copy or clone schedules. We have 3 different schedules on three different hunt groups and when there are changes to be made, I would like to be able to make the change on one schedule and copy that for another hunt group.
  • The interface for the users to change some of their settings (password, phone, email, etc) isn't very user friendly. I usually have to walk users through changes, and at that point, it is easier for me to just make the changes myself.

Orum
  • Calls get cut off more regularly than I would expect. I am not sure if that is an issue on Orum's end, but I don't think it is a network issue either so I am not sure why.
  • In the search lists, it would be nice if we could add favorite cadences or separate by our own.

  • Web app could work better in my experience
  • Pricing could be lower
  • Somehow connect with whatsapp or / and other messaging apps that people commonly use

Orum
Very easy to pick up and use. I was involved in the trial phase all the way through to implementation, and actually defined the internal Orum process for the company. Given my involvement I was very hands on and involved in training the bulk of the team, and found that many if not all users picked the tool up very quickly and it was very easy to document the process due to the usability. The only sticking point tended to be the CRM integration for loading in contacts to lists as this was a little bit fiddly, however the actual tool is super easy to use

In my experience, App features are buggy and confusing, and they often don't match the descriptions and screenshots in their documentation. In fact, many of their help links go to 404 "page not found" errors. In my experience, there are frequent outages and quality issues. My customers prefer to talk to me on a different line, because they find it difficult to understand me on OpenPhone.

I have not needed to interact with their support team yet, so I cannot give a valid response. So far, their tool is simple and straightforward to use.

OpenPhone
In my experience, their support feels like the opposite of support. They send you in circles, never directly answer questions, provide vague suggestions with unwanted platitudes, and they often take days between responses to provide that. For me, it's a frustrating experience that leaves you with a net loss of time and energy versus before you reached out to them. In my opinion, you definitely don't get "support".

I was not an employee when Onebox was selected, but I have used Avaya and Nortel PBXs in the past and while it is not as powerful, it has a lot of great features and a much lower cost of entry.

I have both Orum and Outreach but use Orum for instances where I need to call at scale. Outreach is designed for one-off calls but does not have nearly the breadth and quality of resources for dialing at scale that Orum does.

OpenPhone has an easier user interface than Grasshopper. Years ago when I was using Grasshopper, I recall that their user interface looked antiquated and full of complications. They would also update the interface just as everyone was getting used to using it. OpenPhone has many more functions. Grasshopper's app did not offer basic functions such as in-app texting between team members, and its call transfer function was incredibly complicated to use. In my opinion, Grasshopper was an inferior service/product in almost every way.

In my experience, Billing lacks transparency, and they have made billing errors (overcharging me) since I started using them. I think the "trust registration" is an insane ripoff charging around $20 for every attempt. Crazy.

  • As a BDR, setting meetings is how I get most of my Bonus, and Orum has allowed me to do this more easily by reaching more prospects
  • Whereas before I may only be able to make 500 calls a week if I really grinded, I can make 1,000+ calls a week using Orum even easier
  • Orum's masking of my number has allowed me to get on the phone with folks that had seemingly been ghosting me for months, which has allowed me to grow my business
