IgniteTech
FogBugz has been a very useful tool to our organization, and much preferred over other options we reviewed, mainly JIRA. There are still some improvements needed, but with the fairly recent acquisition by DevFactory, we have a great deal of hope for what is in store given DevFactory's focus and transparency. It seems like both DevFactory and FogBugz customers are eager for substantial improvements on the front-end, but there is/was a great deal of backend housecleaning that definitely needed to take place first.

Apptio Targetprocess is well suited to track work and progress of that work. In addition it is easy to tie that work to OKRs. Cost and hours rollup across the work hierarchy works well. Our users like the flexibility of Targetprocess and the ability to develop their own views and reports Scenarios where it is less appropriate is to do executive level reporting and develop reports that can pull in all of our time data since there is a 300k record limit

I find Monday helpful for lead management. It's great because details like phone, email, and addresses are specific columns from which we can grab data and pull it into other areas. It's great to see who is assigned what and to know what the next steps are for your leads. We use a different scheduling tool with our team, as that calendar view isn't as robust.

Pros
IgniteTech
  • Tasks, Subtasks, and notes. All three of these areas were critical for our team. Tasks in Fogbugz were a bit easier to see than in more bug based software like Trello or JIRA
  • The entire screen is used to view a task or case. Clicking on a task or case will open up and take up the entire screen, aside from the sidebar nav columns. I like to see details and I think Fogbugz does this very well, using up as much digital real estate as possible.
  • Flowcharting in Fogbugz with Creately is nice - instead of getting an exterior flowchart software like Lucidchart, Creately works right in Fogbugz.

  • Extremely flexible: We are able to setup work for different groups in ways that work best for them.
  • Fantastic support group: They are extremely knowledgeable and helpful. I enjoy working with them.
  • Automation: Their automation capabilities have saved us a lot of time.
  • Customizing screens: We can go into code for the different entities, move fields around or hide them, add tabs or additional sections as needed to make for a streamlined user experience.
  • Reporting: Their reporting is flexible and phenomenal. There are so many different ways to pull data and the interface is easy to use.
  • Their user guide is well built and extremely helpful.

Cons
IgniteTech
  • The simplicity of a single admin type user is not great because anyone who can create a job or client in the system, can also add and delete users. Content and User administrative rights should be separated.
  • There are ways to change the terminology/lexicon within the tool, but we are not able to get it to work even after reaching out to tech support. So we are forced to use the system terminology that doesn't match up to our company making training a bit difficult.
  • There is a subscribe function that you can opt into, there should be a way to add subscribers as you create a new task.

  • The UI is bit complex for new users who never used it. i think this can be sorted out by providing the steps to access?
  • dashboards with large datasets can cause performance lags or timeouts
  • Introduce more flexible, template-based RBAC configurations.

  • Sometimes, it's a little technical to set up. Someone who isn't particularly savvy will have a hard time setting it up.
  • Sometimes there are glitches in the automations.
  • The comments areas can be confusing- how they nest. Things can get lost in there.

Targetprocess is the most flexible application for tracking work among teams that we have found. This power comes from near limitless ability to customize your views on the work tracked in the system, and from the myriad reporting options to draw metrics and stats out of the data there. Custom fields, processes, and mashups all add to this flexibility and appeal.

Overall Targetprocess's usability is good. the tool is easy to use and has features which most BUs and organizations can use. Additional features like AI integration would help the tool and its overall usability. providing additional dashboards for specific roles and executives within the tool would benefit Targetprocess with its scale

I give a ten for monday dev's usability because it was a really smooth transition coming from Jira to monday dev. All team members also felt that way. When managing projects, the quality and various options I am able to customize views and columns for each task is really a dealbreaker. Approved.

Reports are fast loading, considering they can refresh in a second or less and we have 7 years of work tracked in over 40k entities. Pages can load slowly when the views are very busy, but not frustratingly. I am a console user most of my career and generally prefer it over webUI interfaces, but Targetprocess won me over from the beginning and I spend half my day using it now.

TargetProcess' support is one of its strengths. The support team is very responsive and helpful when there is a problem but they're also proactive in providing good release notes and engaging with the community through a voting scheme to influence the priority of new features.
The team also releases new versions frequently with new features but with no knock-ons to currently working features.

You should take some time to get everyone to agree how the system should be setup before work starts being tracked in Targetprocess, this avoids difficult and disruptive changes to processes or plugins later when everyone relies on it daily.

I like JIRA a lot better than Fogbugz for many reasons. If I had a choice, I'd use JIRA every time

I would say TargetProcess is an incredibly wonderful tool. As compare to JIRA Software, it is a fully featured product. It fulfills all my business needs. Tracking efficiency of this application is quite favorable
in order to track all the details from a certain project in just a few minutes.

It is at least as good as these tools, in many ways, it is better because it is easier to use and setup. It doesn't require a full-time admin like these tools do. It does lack some of the detailed reporting and such that these offer, but the product is still young and growing. These are much more well-developed tools

IgniteTech
  • Saves time by quickly allowing Developers to make the necessary notes without getting bogged down in bloated UIs
  • Has allowed us to look back easily and see the exact code changes made for the exact Case to aid in decisions for current changes, increasing the certainty of the decided path, without regression

  • No direct positive business ROI has caused executive leadership to play down use of the tool
  • We are hoping to use this to track progress of OKRs and business strategy, but don't have but in from executives on the value of this yet.

  • Although the initial operational cost is usually somewhat high, it is really worth considering in an environment with more than 10 employees working together.
  • In project costing (web development) it is quite acceptable and falls within the scope of the final product quote.
  • I don't have exact numbers or percentages (because I'm not in charge of that section) but I can say that it falls within a good to acceptable ROI range.
