QuickBooks Online Advanced is a SaaS-based accounting software designed to scale with growing businesses. It includes the functionalities of QuickBooks Online, as well as more robust business analytics, customization, and resource management.
We had previously (7+ years ago) used a very basic version of FreshBooks for our accounting needs. This was in the startup phase of our business, and we quickly discovered we needed something more robust, which at the time was QuickBooks Online Advanced. QBO Advanced …
FreshBooks served its purpose when our company was smaller, however, it did not offer the full range of benefits that QBO has offered us. The ability to assign user roles have unlimited user accounts, a dedicated helpline, online access to trainings, and the ability to create …
QuickBooks Online Advanced is on par with Xero, and both are market leaders in the Online Bookkeeping solutions. Multi-dimensional reporting is better than Xero but Xero has better WorkPapers, Hubdoc app and allows for online filing of accounts to Companies House and to HMRC. …
QuickBooks blows the coemption out of the water. They can't compete with the prices or services offered. Their customer services can't compare to QuickBooks. Having multiple options for help is just a good idea. Not to mention the education and training offered by QuickBooks …
I evaluated other packages. Wave is/was very appealing because it is free. However, I'm not certain is would scale enough with our business. Xero was tempting but it could not integrate with our bank and thus required manual entry. QuickBooks allowed us to maximize our …
FreshBooks is the perfect tool for businesses who have hundreds of clients and customers whom they invoice regularly. It removes the need to manually send invoices to clients and customers, by streamlining inputted information to create an automated invoicing system which keeps clients and customers up to date with their bills. It is also a great tool for managing expenses, especially for companies with different teams working on varying projects, ensuring these teams do not exceed the budget ceiling.
QuickBooks is a great way to manage your business finances and payroll. Even though there a things that are not perfect the software or product is the best I've experienced for small businesses. I highly recommend QuickBooks Online Advanced. It allows small businesses to manage inventory and utilizing the POS system works for many businesses. I don't have a need for the POS but I have heard good things about it.
FreshBooks is pretty intuitive to use. I did have some questions when I first started using the system, but it wasn't a long learning curve.
FreshBooks provides more capability than other billing applications such as PaySimple or BlinkSale. FreshBooks does provide an easy invoicing function. It's easy to create invoices that can be sent via email or snail mail to one or more individuals (for example, the decision-maker and the accounting dept). Clients can pay online or send a check and then I note that the payment has been received. If paid by credit card, the system automatically marks the invoice paid. Your business accounts such as bank accounts can be linked to FreshBooks. Then, the system can automatically draw in expenses and will create simple P&L reports, overdue invoices, client history, etc. If you don't have inventory and complex payroll, etc. FreshBooks provides just the right level of capability to make financial tracking simple.
FreshBooks integrates with a number of credit card companies. I use Stripe, which has fees similar to Paypal, but much more reliable processing. I can accept all credit cards, including American Express, for a reasonable fee.
I can brand invoices with my business logo, but I might like to change colours of the invoices themselves to match the rest of my business documents. That isn't a major point at all, but it's something that I'd like to see.
Freshbooks doesn't remember the categories that similar expenses were previously assigned to. It would be nice if Freshbooks would suggest a category for an already saved vendor, to ensure the consistency of expense reporting.
The home page of a Freshbooks account has a great graph display of expenses and income, but it only shows the last 6 months. This is still very useful, but I'd like to be able to see this kind of graph for different periods of time.
Extremely slow data entry rates for all forms: invoices, sales receipts, POs, bills, bill payments, checks, and deposits. If you are heavy into data entry like this, QB desktop will run circles around QB online.
Need to refresh browser tabs containing reports, transactions, and reconciliations because they do not automatically update after entering or changing a transaction. This requires you to monitor the app to be sure the information it is giving you is accurate or at least makes sense after you make entries or adjustments.
Inadequate tablet/phone app -- very limited functions, especially for a business owner.
A quasi-desktop/cloud interface app for QB Online that in the past caused blue screen errors for me, requiring uninstallation.
Quality of support varies SIGNIFICANTLY depending on time of year, current onshore or offshore strategy of Intuit, and organization of support delivery.
Extremely weak support and willingness to stand by their merchant services, in one case causing a month-long delay to receive payment on a check from a regular customer who banked at the same bank as me. And the CEO's office could not resolve either.
Loyalty to customers and advisor networks has consistently decreased.
Costs continue to rise, well before our recent inflationary period, roughly doubling in about 5 to 6 years.
Will sell your employees' salaries to credit monitoring services without your actively taking steps to prevent.
"Anonymizes" your business' performance data to share with other business owners, including your competitors. It is unclear how much is shared and to what depth. You cannot opt out.
If you don't know what you are doing, or if your bookkeeper doesn't, you can create one helluva mess.
Introductory offers for product set-up and advice (from Intuit directly) are weak.
For implementing QBO you really need training from someone who can work directly with you on your books. This is increasingly true as you move up the ladder of product complexity/function.
Software look, feel, and feature changes that happen with no real notice of what is coming and its impact on your work flow.
At the current needs of our business, FreshBooks suits us perfectly - it allows online access by our accountant to the system for GST purposes, easy input of expenses and tracking of Profit and Loss statements. FreshBooks customer service is great as well - very understanding and accommodating.
QuickBooks Online Advanced is not like any other accounting software. With how great the software is now, I would definitely renew QuickBooks Online Advanced
FreshBooks is very easy to use even for novices. If you're looking for an online accounting software that is full of features, has great aesthetics and is user-friendly, then this is definitely the software for you. I've been using it for several years now and despite being tempted to switch by other vendors, I like the feel of FreshBooks and it's mobile features.
I think the support level for FreshBooks is on par with a 6 because the folks behind this application do a fairly good job at providing support for their customer base. I still don't think they are at an elite level when it comes to supporting but are getting there although too slow in my opinion.
We do not consider other options since our client wants the implementation of this platform in order to use it in the two countries where it has operations.
At the moment, full integration was not possible and we still share the information with a Mexican system to complete everything necessary.
QuickBooks Desktop provides slightly more features and functionality, at the cost of disk space and the lack of cloud access. We chose the Online version of this software as the accounting and finance staff travel frequently and may access information remotely. QuickBooks provides significantly less features and functionality than Oracle NetSuite, but it comes at a fraction of the cost. As a smaller startup, NetSuite is not affordable for us at this time.
Freshbooks saves me time compared to when I managed to invoice without an app.
Freshbooks make keeping my invoices organized which saves me time.
Freshbooks helps me to know who is late on payments. When I was doing this by hand, some invoices would get lost in the clutter and I would not find out I haven't been paid until much later.
