GoodData
GoodData is well suited when you have a lot of data sources and you need a single location where you can pipe the data into and then create insights/charts/analytics based on the data you've piped in there. It's also great if you want to customize how the datasets interact with each other and what that logical data model looks like. Super super intuitive there. I think it's not great for data presentation if your product is presenting data to your customers. For internal use, it's great

Sigma Computing
Sigma is most useful in an environment where the busines user is data savvy. Data savvy is not only knowledge of the data but also has basic spreadsheet skills like knowing how to connect data with lookups. These environments often mean that they can pick up the skills needed to build their own visuals. So Sigma is possibly the only tool for a small company with limited data resources where the business teams needs to pick up some of the data load. Sigma is also great for a big company where there is more demand for data discovery than the IT team has capacity.

Pros
GoodData
  • It's a good platform that has a flexible pricing plan which means that users can get hands-on service free at the start.
  • GoodData provides its users with excellent charts and drill-down analysis which makes complex large data sets so simplified and easy to understand and interpret.
  • For me it is so convenient because everything just gets saturated on a single page.

Cons
GoodData
  • No option to visualise a pin on a map
  • Custom metrics and variables can be tricky to get right
  • Hard to gauge where you are in terms of workspace data limits
  • Adding and removing DB fields from models is not as intuitive as it could be
  • Data model loading logs can be quite dense and hard to read, esp. when new
  • Setting up models to correctly reference between DB tables takes practise
  • No option to limit the amount of data a model loads once the table is included

Sigma Computing
  • The interface is busy with multiple modes to accomplish similar tasks, so not always intuitive to do some tasks
  • While a more specific case of my first point, the relationship between different screen elements is particularly not obvious
  • On chart annotation, allowing comments that overlay chart data

GoodData
Each client I have worked with and spoken too has renewed their GoodData subscription. I know of not one to date that has cancelled. The GoodData platform has a very high rate of renewal from the discussions I have had with their internal teams as well

Sigma Computing
Because we are very satisfied with the product and would most likely renew because of the services it provides. It is a tool that you bring into your organization and let it change the way you analyze your data, present your data and share you date within the Respective teams

Usability
GoodData
After comparing over 20 solution, this is probably not the best in class but the feature set is very competitive. If budget is of no issue, solution like Looker is probably more popular and robust but if you do not want to spend every bit of your budget just for your BI tooling, most users would find GoodData reasonably good enough especially if you are on the SME level

Sigma Computing
It has a clean and modern interface. However, it is not completely intuitive. I think it would be better and easier to navigate with more Windows style drop down menus and/or tabls. There is a significant learning curve, but that may be due in part to the technical nature of this type of software tool.

Support Rating
GoodData
The fast and comprehensive responses we got from GoodData regarding the doubts we had experienced while starting to use the products and metrics were of great help in ensuring the metrics we were obtaining were accurate to what we wanted to know about our customers' experience and our product areas of opportunity.

Support team is helpful in answering questions and providing help with using the UI. There are knowledgeable people within the support team. There are also good online support tools. There are significant community support resources available. There is however lack of a live support. It would be useful to have live phone number or chat to use.

Alternatives Considered
GoodData
We chose gooddata compared to other products because gooddata is easier for ordinary people like me to use. Apart from being easy, gooddata also has many features which are more than enough to help my work and costs incurred by gooddata are lower than when I use other products. Thank you goodata for helping our work

Sigma Computing
Sigma is like a unique combination of Excel and Tableau, in my experience. It combines both the heavy-duty data wrangling and data manipulation abilities of Tableau with the quickness and ease of use that Excel is known for having. I have relied on Excel a lot less now for ad hoc work since using Sigma, as I can just easily get what I need from Sigma rather than having to open it in Excel. We still have one minor data source that I use to download CSVS from and work into Excel as needed, but this is rare.
