HubSpot CRM is perfect for sales/marketing teams that require a simple CRM tool with few advanced features. This is all included in affordable plans that range from free to $50 a month. The more advanced features that larger companies may need to use are not included in these plans. HubSpot provides awesome comprehensive features in some of their more expensive plans, which might be suitable for later-stage companies, not startups.

Some people seemed to be confused by too many options. Customizing your work in a digital workspace needs means rethinking your possibilities by knowing your toolset well. In the beginning, I was a little bit frustrated, because I didn't see all these options and there was a lack of best practise. Studying the large Podio App Store solutions helped me to understand. If you do not have the time it's the best moment for getting in contact with one of the Podio partners.

  • General ease of data sync and importing means records can be quickly and easily updated (and deduplicated against existing records) once you have the tips and tricks of formatting down.
  • Features like integration with Gmail mean that you can track and capture all conversations with target prospects, informing your activities going forward.
  • Dedicated support and implementation are vital when you’re a lean team implementing a product, and Hubspot offers these services.
  • Building target lists by location, vertical, and even contact role is easy and fast.
  • Mass imports and exports take no time at all, meaning you can update swaths of your contact lists to incorporate new data points or changes.
  • HubSpot's built-in Insights provide excellent company-level information, anchored to email domain, providing all sorts of vertical and industry information about target companies.

  • UPDATE: The view issue has been fixed! HubSpot listened to their users and they have now changed the marketing view of a contact to look just like the sales view so that I can make all the same edits and adjustments I could in the sales view right from the marketing view! This has been a major improvement.. There's not a lot of improvement areas I can think of. There was at the beginning and they have fixed quite a few of them like timezone issues, default field issues, and view issues when going back and forth from sales to marketing contact views. I'd say the views issue is still something to work on. When a marketer is viewing a contact and a sales rep is viewing a contact I'd like to be able to (as an admin) control what each team members sees. Instead sales rep have ability to change fields they view and it makes it challenging to have a consistent experience for all users.
  • More templates instead of just 5 for emails would be useful as well.
  • The first reporting dashboard you see after logging in should be much more useful than it is. It really doesn't do much for reps or managers.
  • Reporting is still a big weak spot. I like all the things managers and admins can do when we use custom views, but a few template reports to quickly customize would be nice to see as well.
  • From a manager/admin perspective there's much that could be done to give us more options on what we control as far as which users see which fields and be able to control and limit customization of end users.

  • Steep learning curve - not a particularly intuitive design, likely because it IS so adaptable
  • No roadmap - there's a lot of suggestions for product features, but no roadmap of where they are going with this
  • Recently updated - didn't really know it was coming or what would be on it, but they are invested in their product and made some good updates
  • Good at everything, great at nothing - again, because it IS so adaptable, it doesn't excel at any one feature

I have a sales rep who is putting me in touch with a new support team member and we're supposed to have a meeting next week. It does not look particularly likely that we will end up choosing Podio based on my initial customer service experience, but I am not closing the door entirely. It's going to be an uphill battle for sure, but it is not entirely out of the question, particularly if they have improved task management on the horizon and can demonstrate a greatly improved attitude.

They were quick to respond to questions we had regarding the Hubspot system and would log in to our account directly to see exactly what we were seeing to help resolve issues.

They'd explain the solution so we could learn how and why. If something we were trying to do wasn't possible, they also explained how and why.

Both of the CRMs I've worked with in the past were too bulky and cluttered. They also did not have the integrated database with marketing that give me such powerful closed loop analytics. From first touch to sold this helps us track what happens to leads better than any I've ever seen. It is simpler to use, cleaner, and helps reps sell better than any I've ever seen

  • We are able sync offices, vendors, and more importantly clients on multiple timezones; eliminating email chains, voicemails and a lot of meeting / catch up hours
  • Podio made it faster for our clients to make decisions between their distributed stakeholders, which increased client retention rate and customer lifetime value for us
  • There is a transition period between the conventional synchronous working (communication by phone, conference calls etc) to asynchronous working (social business, cloud storage), this transition period needs to be planned in advance and users need training both on the platform and the new way of working
