Trend Micro offers an end-to-end hosted security solution which they call the Worry-Free Business Security suite for midsize and larger enterprises, which provides a wide range of services such as endpoint protection, email encryption, general antivirus and threat detection and prevention, as well as protection of cloud applications as well, with no maintenance.
Symantec Endpoint Security is a well-rounded product that provides a significant amount of functionality and covers many of our endpoint needs without needing to resort to multiple vendors that might clash in unpredictable ways when ultimately deployed to the endpoints in our estate. The default policies are adequate and tuning these requires some time as with all similar EDR products but the product is flexible enough to allow very granular whitelisting/blacklisting which is great. Low resource requirements are also fantastic and we've not had many complaints from developers who were getting slowed down when compiling complex code with other previous solutions.
Trend Micro is well suited solution for SMBs, for companies with less than 100 endpoints or devices to protect. Where there is no internal infrastructure to host endpoint protection platforms and there are not internal IT teams or security focused personnel. Not suitable for businesses with more than 200 devices as you can lose effectiveness on the protection intended to be provided.
The system should have a better ability to auto repair, if an item is malfunctioning it should auto reinstall.
The cloud platform and the server do not talk well to each other and it would be great to get the same data on both platforms, this may be due to version though.
It seems the whitelisting on the cloud platform could use some work.
Symantec Endpoint Protection centralized management console provides easy to follow, clean, and modern HTML5 based interface. All functionality required to manage Symantec Endpoint Protection is available and presented through this management interface. The Symantec Endpoint Protection provides many roles out of the box and presents relevant information based on the user role. Symantec Endpoint Protection can benefit from further scripting/automation interface development.
Installation and administration tools are fantastic. I found the endpoint policies to be not intuitive and clunky. The endpoint client was difficult to disable when trying to troubleshoot Apple issues and I often had to uninstall and then reinstall which was very time-consuming. Reporting is very useful and I was impressed with the reports I received.
We've used it for years and the software is easy to use. The dashboard is easy to read, and you can easily figure out where to go to troubleshoot or deploy software. Symantec is there for emergencies like backup restoration or file retrieval. It's pretty low maintenance. Symantec is there when your IT infrastructure needs it
Support is completely awful! You can never get anyone to help if you can even find a number to call. The support web portal is a joke and their response time if you're even able to submit a ticket is ridiculously slow.
The few times I needed to contact support I was fully satisfied. They worked all the way through the issue, no matter how long it took, and made sure I had a permanent solution. I was pleased with the professionalism, courteousness, and knowledge of the product they were supporting.
Symantec Endpoint Security offers very similar features to the above products, they all do the same thing in terms of protecting your endpoints against cybersecurity threats. Installation wise the products all install from a central management system and report back to this for central reporting. Ultimately we choose Symantec as the reseller was able to offer additional incentives which made their pricing very competitive.
Avast was clunky, difficult to roll out, missed loads of malware on machines, and required that we purchase a separate license to install AV on our servers. Trend Micro could not have been any different. You just contact their sales department and get a demo, or even ask for a trial of sorts to test policy creations and client installation. You'll be obsessed with the whole process and the admin dashboard you have access to.
