My company doesn't have the signature for a paid Office Software, because of this I work with this platform opensource. Is good to know that the Apache OpenOffice Calc is much better that the others available to download, the reason behind it is the multiples formulas, charts, dinamic table and graphics available to use. I think that only problem to reported is when you need use the macro, I think that it dont work much better like the Microsoft Excel.
  • Nice interface
  • Best user experience
  • Constant evolution
  • Better than others opensources
  • Fuction with Macro
  • Fuction like PowerQuery
  • Multiple users using the same file on the cloud
  • Backup automatic in case of bug or crash
Suited : Using like data base in csv. to work with Tableau; Build dinamic charts and dinamic table
Less: Using with a lot data the file become some slow and turn the file inappropriate to work fast, so I need divide the data or work using another software to build charts and dinamic dash.
  • Significant return with saving of signatures
  • All team work with the same app
  • Improvement process and get the routine workflow

We used open office to analyze general ledger files. Find the outage between the balance for every day. The files were huge and would have around 100K records and hence open office was our go to software. The software helped with formula, vlookup, pivot and other mathematical formulas that were required for making our life easy. Our boss was happy because the software is free of cost and didn't need approval from higher level for reimbursement.
  • Vloolup
  • Pivot
  • Autofill
  • Mathematical formulas
  • Not many functions as compared to MS office
  • Can't integrate to some external sources like Google stocks
  • Sometimes have formatting issues
The software is not a paid ones and usually helps to do all the work you need to do on Microsoft office spread sheet. You can easily download it without worrying about activating and remembering the key if you change your laptop or workstation. Because it has almost all formulas and basic features, an average user can use this.
  • Fast debugging
  • Positive financial impact
  • Can be installed on all workstations becusse it's not paid
All basic features are available if compared with Microsoft. Some third party integrations are missing in open office like Google stocks..

I was looking for a lightweight software for making calculations and creating lists, and Apache OpenOffice Calc turned out to be the best choice. Not only it requires less storage space, but it has the same commands I could find in Microsoft Excel. In addition, I can export a spreadsheet as a .pdf file, which is great for me, since I use this software mostly for creating and modifying lists. Finally, Apache OpenOffice Calc allows me to open various file types, including .xls. The only defect is the fact that I can export only one spreadsheet as a .pdf file, in case my document consists of two or more spreadsheets.<br>
  • It allows you to open, view and edit various file types, including .xls
  • You can export any document you're working on to .pdf
  • Its Function Wizard is easy to use
  • It allows you to export the only current page you're working on to .pdf
Apache OpenOffice Calc helps me to create and edit my lists with ease, and I can also customize each cell and column. This is great especially when I have to deal with product lists. I can verify or fix the price, the identification code and other data concerning each item with a few clicks. So far, I never experienced any scenario where this software was not appropriate.
  • The software is free to download and use, but if I invested anything, I think it would be worth its price, and I don't plan to change it anytime soon.
