SolarWinds SQL Sentry is designed to help data professionals optimize SQL Server database performance in physical, virtual, and cloud environments. SQL Sentry delivers metrics to help users find and fix database performance problems and provides scalability, boasting demonstrated success monitoring 800+ SQL Server instances with one monitoring database.

With SQL Sentry, the user can monitor:

From their infancy as a smaller company to now as a global player they have always kept focus on prioritising he customer. They know their product and the technology it supports and are easily accessible for both resolving problems with the product all the way to adding value through additional training and assisting with getting return on investment through utilisation of the many features the product provides.
Their technical sales reps are amazing, some are even Microsoft MVPs. We have had times when you might have a what if question, or even a specific SQL server question and they will always helpfully respond. One of the better vendors out there getting it right by prioritising the customers satisfaction over everything else. Always a pleasure speaking with any of the staff both on and off topic of SentryOne.

They usually respond within a few hours and will pull in needed resources without the need for me to escalate the issue. They take the initiative to follow up. They are open to suggestions for future enhancements and actually implement them. They give the impression they want to resolve your issues.
It is the overall support I am impressed with. I expect the vendor to work with us and keep us informed until the issue is resolved. I want a sense that they are committed to our success. Out of the vendors we use IBM, Microsoft (Premier support), AWS, Hortonworks and SQL Sentry, SQL Sentry is the only one that has met my expectations. Based on my experience with the other vendors the majority of my support experiences have been exceptional.

The main platform is very well supported. Requests for help with customizing alerts and monitors have been rapidly and thoroughly responded to. Our use of the chain feature seems to be out of the ordinary and our defect reports there while understood and taken seriously, tend to be lower priority than defects in the main platform. They will work diligently to give us a workaround but correction in the standard release is a little slower in the chain feature.
When were we having a terrible time with the chain feature, we were in regular contact with the architect of the feature and received multiple custom builds of the product until we were able to have a stable chain again. The defect was revenue affecting for us and was treated that way by Sentry One.

I have always received prompt, professional support. Without fail, they are able to answer my questions and get things up and going.
The support staff provided me excellent support when I had to start supporting SQL Server instances on a different domain. The online documentation was incorrect, so the support team was able to find a solution for me that resolved my problem.

The support received is outstanding. They are quick to respond, will happily speak with you on the phone, and go above and beyond on every single ticket to ensure that you have the best resolution, and provide a detailed breakdown around the problem, or if you are having issues understanding the metrics. The training / support materials alone that SentryOne provide are invaluable.
Pretty much every time we have contacted SentryOne the support has been exceptional! The turnaround time, the detail provided. Incredible support.

Thankfully, we have not needed to submit many support requests. I believe he have less than 5 cases in the last 4 years. However, when we do need support, the team is there for us.
We were using the tool to find evidence of unauthorized access to one of our production systems. The number of times the call of interest was made was much lower than we expected. We thought that there was a problem with the tool capturing information and submitted a case. The SQL Sentry team got back to us very quickly and advised us that the tool was capturing and storing everything per its design. We learned that there is a default minimum duration before a call is stored in the SentryOne database.

They explained what we would need to change if we wanted to capture more or all of the calls. They were also very forthcoming in telling us that lowering the number could have negative impacts on the monitoring service.

Support has been great, but have had instances where the solution I desired was not inherently available in Task Factory.
I was trying to make a REST connection and while I couldn't get it to work, the developers went above and beyond to try and help me get the product configured and working.

years ago we had an issue with event chains hanging up and not seeing that the jobs were completing so we worked with SentryOne team to write a query to run automatically to mark jobs as completed if needed. Learned a lot from the SentryOne team.

As stated earlier the responses have always been quick and accurate and I always feel like they care. Not something I'm used to with all support organizations.
A few years ago we ran into a problem with SQL Server reporting some weird memory issues. My contact at SentryOne didn't know why it was being reported that way and actually got one of their developers involved who discovered a bug in Microsoft SQL Server's memory manager and filed the bug with Microsoft. He also told me how to workaround the Microsoft SQL Server issue until they fixed it.

Very seldom do I need to wait an hour for a response, and the support techs are knowledgeable and really work to make sure your problem is resolved.
I found that I needed to re-deploy the monitoring process because I wanted to get it installed on a dedicated server rather than my personal workstation. I got complete, step-by-step instructions from the support rep, plus a couple of recommendations from him when we discussed what my plan was and what the ultimate goal was.

Would only get a 10 from me if there was someone say next to me and fixed the issue there n then. This is unrealistic so I can't give a 10.
I know they guys based in England so any questions I have guess to them. If they can't answer straight away which is unlikely then a support request is raised

Their support team has gone out of their way to help me get past any issues that I am having. They genuinely see to care about my success.
I opened a case with SQL Sentry one evening right before leaving work. They contacted me quickly and stayed online even after I left the office and worked from my phone. I don't remember the issue I had, but it was not an emergency, yet they responded as if it were. They have consistently responded this way for all of my calls.
