Overall Satisfaction with SQL Sentry
We use SQL Sentry within the IT department to help monitor and isolate issues associated with all production level database servers. SQL Sentry provides our IT department and DBA with the tools to quickly identify performance issues with our SQL Server databases. SQL Sentry offers us a centralized portal and a snapshot of our database servers health.
Pros
- A centralized location to troubleshoot database server issues.
- Quick access to pin in time snapshots database performance.
- Capabilities to drill into problem areas.
Cons
- Provide a query interface embedded into the application, so there is no need to bounce back between SSMS and SQL Sentry.
Much better alerting and more comprehensive diagnostic tool set.
SolarWinds SQL Sentry Feature Ratings
Evaluating SQL Sentry and Competitors
Yes - I implemented an SSIS environment to replace a much more expensive DELL Boomi implementation, which was doing nothing more than moving data from one server to another. In doing so, we leverage some of the added features in Task Factory not available to native SSIS.
- Price
- Product Features
Price was the biggest feature. We saved thousands of dollars by switching to SSIS using TF components.
I've been very happy with Task Factory. Have tried some other competing products, but they were not as robust as TF's offerings.
SQL Sentry Support
Pros | Cons |

Quick Resolution Good followup Knowledgeable team Problems get solved No escalation required Support understands my problem Support cares about my success Quick Initial Response | None |
No - Not sure if premium support is available for TF. Regardless, we've never needed escalated support.
I was trying to make a REST connection and while I couldn't get it to work, the developers went above and beyond to try and help me get the product configured and working.
