Overall Satisfaction with Adobe Illustrator CC

Illustrator is my go to tool as a graphic designer. It is how I ideate, create storyboards, create illustrations and logos. I can create a character and start turnarounds. It is the single most important tool for my business. I love how I can quickly create patterns and now I can incorporate AI to help me generate ideas. When I need to create an environment, the perspective tools are critical. On a day to day bases, it gives me all the tools I need and seamlessly works with the document layout tool InDesign. I can also take my illustrations into Photoshop as smart objects and refine or enhance. I think of it as the cornerstone of my work.

Pros

  • logos
  • illustrations
  • perspective drawing

Cons

  • There are some text formatting tools in InDesign that could be incorporated into Illustrator.
  • Some things require too many menus or digging to get to.
  • The turnaround for 3d is still being developed, but definitely can use some refinement
  • Because of its integration with other tools like InDesign and Photoshop, my workflow is very streamlined, which means time is streamlined.
  • Being able to make quick color changes helps to quickly ideate.
  • I've been using Illustrator for over 25 years, so Illustrator is my business.
I never think about usability, because, for me, it is all very natural at this point. As new tools are introduced or old tools refined, it is done in a very natural and intuitive way. I don't ever feel that there is a learning curve, as the tools build upon each other and are easy to understand. While the program can seem menu heavy, I have been able to set my own workspace and have what I need at my fingertips.
I have been using all of these tools for years. Illustrator is usually my go to tool. Once you learn Illustrator, it makes using all of the other programs easier to learn and it integrates with them beautifully. For the most part, each tool has it's own strengths - InDesign for layout, Photoshop for pixels, etc., but for me, working with vectors is my prime need.

Do you think Adobe Illustrator CC delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Adobe Illustrator CC's feature set?

Yes

Did Adobe Illustrator CC live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of Adobe Illustrator CC go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Adobe Illustrator CC again?

Yes

It is the only tool that I use to create logos. It gives me the flexibility to create sharp text and marks and they can then be resized at will, color changes in a second and perfect way to export. I know that some people use Illustrator for document layout, it is not ideal. While I can easily create documents here, it really is InDesign that is the perfect tool.
