Overall Satisfaction with Atlassian Confluence

[Atlassian] Confluence is used across some departments within the company. Its primary purpose is to be a "knowledge hub" for content, information, training, etc for our teams. It's the go to place for resources about the product, metrics or to link out to various other resources (google docs, applications, etc).

Pros

  • Enables sharing and insights across different departments. Ability to see content in other departments.
  • Ability for all users to have public access to create their own content.
  • The features to embed different pages or documents makes it easier to remain in confluence and not have to toggle to different applications.

Cons

  • At times the tool is not always user friendly and intuitive
  • Building pages can often require a deeper understanding of more technical skillsets like HTML to build pages that display nicely
  • More documentation on building out pages would be helpful when it comes to building more advanced pages
  • Ability to embed pages and documents for easy sharing and access
  • Ease of use so users can quickly jump in and create their own pages.
  • Consolidating knowledge share into one platform that can be used across the company vs having multiple sources of information
  • Allows the business to have more cross functional alignment
Google Drive is not comparable to confluence, but it was the only other means for collaboration of documents and a shared hub for resources. But it serves more as a folder for resources rather than a repository of pages in information with links, documents, collaboration, discussions, etc.
