Overall Satisfaction with Braze
We use Braze as our ESP to deploy emails, push notifications, in-app messages, and SMS to millions of DTC customers. Braze enables us to segment our customer base, personalize messaging, and deploy millions of sophisticated multi-channel communications weekly. We especially love how user-friendly the Braze UI is and how frequently they launch new features. Our consumer marketing team genuinely enjoys working in Braze daily.
Pros
- Flexible multi-channel campaign setup, whether for one-off sends or customer journeys. We have a lot of different ways we can control the setup of any individual campaign, enabling sophisticated use cases.
- User-friendly UI makes it enjoyable for the teams working on the platform daily.
- Good customer segmentation abilities are essential, especially if you're fully utilizing some of Braze's key features, such as native purchase events and catalogs.
Cons
- More sophisticated customer segmentation—more akin to a CPD—would be useful. Some things that are harder in Braze are attribute calculations (a new attribute calculated based on values of other independent attributes) and detailed purchase history lookback for nuanced segmentation.
- Reporting. We generally don't use Braze's out-of-the-box reporting because it's a little bit clunky.
- Better, more precise deliverability monitoring and reporting.
- Clear connection to driving orders/revenue through driving click-through rates across channels.
- Launching SMS, an incremental value-add channel for us.
- All outbound marketing channels are under one roof, which creates both cost & labor efficiency.
Because we are integrated with both Braze and a CDP, we haven't been able to take advantage of some of the AI-based solutions that Braze offers as much—but we are actively looking at ways to do more, such as canvas, personalized paths, prediction suite, etc. As small as it may sound, Braze's AI copywriter assistant has come in handy more than a few times, and knowing that it can now ingest brand guidelines is exciting.
Braze is a much stronger deployment platform than Optimove (i.e., Optimail, Optimobile, Optitext). While Klaviyo may be deemed the "preferred" integration with Shopify, we feel confident that Braze will work perfectly well and will continue to enhance its integration with Shopify. It'd never be worth the pain of an ESP migration to move away from Braze for maybe only a few better features with Klaviyo.
