Overall Satisfaction with Chartbeat

Chartbeat is used by our whole organisation to track page views and find out which articles are performing well across our news sites.

Pros

  • Shows the number of people reading the page.
  • Shows historic page views.
  • Shows whether a story has been picked up on social media.

Cons

  • It would be useful to find out how headlines could help stories be picked up by social media.
  • It is widely used and helps us develop content for our sites.
Allows us to find out which stories can be shared across multiple sites and how likely they are to have good page views.
Simple to use.
Allows us to find out which stories can be republished on different sites if it has a wider appeal outside one area.
It helps us design how a page can be laid out to help find the style that helps keep users on our pages.

It is a great tool to find out which stories are performing well. It is not as useful for finding out why an article has been well received, i.e., merits of the story compared with social media pick up.
