Overall Satisfaction with Chartbeat

We use Chartbeat at WKMG to track user engagement on stories on ClickOrlando.com, test headlines on the homepage, and make decisions on website arrangements.

Pros

  • Headline AB testing: To improve our headline writing.
  • User engagement: To determine what stories we should promote.

Cons

  • More data on user engagement: More details on where they are finding our stories/links.
  • Positive: Helping to determine what needs a different headline.
It helps us determine what types of stories we should pursue in the future.
It's easy to use but I have been using it for years and don't see much change overall.
When something does well via Chartbeat, we can use that information to assign stories.

I really haven't used anything else quite like Chartbeat. Google Analytics might compare but it is very different.

Chartbeat is a good tool for media/journalists to track how articles are found online and what works well on the homepage.
