Overall Satisfaction with Cisco Meraki SM

We use Cisco Meraki SM in over 200+ schools in Cambridgeshire and beyond, all easily accessible within a single simple to use dashboard.

Pros

  • "Single pane of glass" Dashboard
  • Device security (lockdown, remote wipe)
  • Device tracking

Cons

  • MDM certificate expiry can cause us issues - but I believe this is an Apply mandate
  • No copying of management templates between tenancies, to has to be setup manually each time
  • Negative: No more free 100 device tier
  • Positive: Staff require minimal training on its use
Cisco Meraki SM isn't just a SM / MDM platform. Its a full stack from devices, wireless, switches, firewalls, cameras. With its single "pane of glass" dashboard it's easy to manage and support the entire product portfolio in one place!
The Meraki full stack make is easy for us to support users from device, through to network and beyond (internet). We can thus diagnose any issues and deploy changes more quickly without having to dip into mixed vendors / multiple devices management (web, telnet, ssh, etc.). This can normally all be achieved remotely offsite 99 out of 100 times speeding up customer support experience and saving us sending valuable engineer resources.
It's almost perfect... one minor issue is we have when independent schools join a trust / academies if they already have their own Meraki tenancy it gets a bit messy (usually having to contact Meraki support) to migrate / deploy existing devices / licenses across... otherwise it's a very manual process they could possibly integrate into the Meraki Dashboard.
We just love the Cisco Meraki SM single pane of glass and ease of use compared to other SM / MDM products.

We've used / trailed several other MDM platforms (JAMF, LightSpeed, InTune) and none are as simply to use as the Cisco Meraki SM!

There used to be a great free tier for up to 100 devices - but Meraki retired it this year (for any new devices) so that has caused additional costs but otherwise is still our product of choice!
