Overall Satisfaction with Deputy

We use Deputy for scheduling and tracking timesheets for a medium-size business with 21 employees. Managers can draft, collaborate on and publish schedules to employees as needed, and we can easily summarize payroll hours to submit to our payroll provider. The ability to create multiple departments and roles allows for easy tracking of shifts within each area of our business.

We chose Deputy over other options due to the flexibility in pricing and only paying for the number of users we have at a given time. Our corporate locations also used Deputy and were able to help us with integration. The ability for employees from other locations to work at our location with just one Deputy account was also very convenient.

Reporting is very lacking. It is difficult to extract specific data that you'd like. Otherwise, it is a reasonable product for the price. The extended HR functionality seems like it would make for a good HRIS for a small or medium business if one [were] needed. We may look at further integration down the road.
Pick what you need and prioritize the remaining functionality based on when you have time to do it.
Not great for managing salaried employees and processing payroll directly. Great for businesses with many shifts across a scheduling period. As a 24 hour operation, it is difficult to post shifts somewhere everyone sees. Availability and time-off request functionality is also wonderful. We make use of the organizational roles so that supervisors and managers can contribute to [the] schedule, approve time off, approve timesheets, etc.
