Overall Satisfaction with Deputy

We use Deputy to track all of our retail store employee hours, and then import that over to Gusto for our payroll. It works really well, and we haven't had any software issues. We tried a phone app before Deputy. However, the problem we ran into was that after phone updates it didn't auto-launch, or an employee might forget their phone, etc. So, having Deputy run on a tablet that they can check into every shift was the far easier method. The ability for it to intergrade with Gusto was also a plus!
  • Tracks Clock In/Out
  • Has an easy break timer for employee's.
  • Integrates with our payroll provider.
  • It sometimes gets stuck on the clock-out function. You may have to hit that button several times occasionally.
  • Payroll time savings.
  • Trust in the tracked amount of employee hours.
Deputy is less clunky than Clockify and offers more advanced integration options. I also can't stress enough how nice it is to have something just mounted to the wall running Deputy that can be on 24/7 and after five years not have some sort of breakdown.

The easy to understand and operate user interface for the end-users is important. You don't want employees stuck trying to figure out how to clock in and out.
I simply had to create the account, install the app on an iPad and was ready to go. Later when the Gusto integration became possible, it was very simple to input the ID's and get the two things talking to each other.
I think that if you have hourly employees that need an easy way to clock in and clock out, that Deputy succeeds in providing an easy to use, and inexpensive solution. The only other method we've used is time cards, but I can't stand being that antiquated. Plus you would need to manually enter everyone's times into payroll.
