Overall Satisfaction with Dropbox
In my previous organization, we used Dropbox to upload content, powerpoint presentations, videos, etc. Dropbox was mainly used as a file transfer source for larger files that could not be shared via attachments or if they got corrupted via email. It was beneficial especially to creatives working at my previous agency.
Pros
- Ease of use in interface design.
- Fast uploading process.
- Knowledge of service -- it's used by multiple other companies, and has been around for a while, with an established name/presence.
Cons
- Many times our files would be corrupted. I'm not sure if this was an expiration issue or the way the file was uploaded, but it's often frustrating.
- No real-time editing within the tool compared to Google Docs/Slides, etc.
- Limited capacity with a free membership.
- Efficiency for quick turnover projects.
- Easy file sharing for those without our organization (compared to something like Egnyte where users need the same email address domain).
- We're working amongst multiple teams who may not all have the same access, but do have Dropbox.
I think that in terms of familiarity with the platform and interface, Dropbox is probably top of mind. However, I do like Google Docs the most, since you are able to edit in real-time, and it makes note of the version changes. Sharepoint has this capability as well, however, I find it to be much slower.
