Great tool to feel safe and secure about your data.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

The internal file server is where all company information is stored. We would also go here to share files and information with customers or external users, and it is connected to our Salesforce instance as well.

Pros

  • Security
  • Company file server.
  • Folder sharing at different levels.

Cons

  • Desktop App limitations.

Return on Investment

  • More secure overall access levels to the company means less risk of data breaches.
  • Easier file management means less time IT is spending on access issues.

Alternatives Considered

Microsoft SharePoint, Dropbox and Google Drive

Great Shared Drive App for Work

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

As an employee working remote on a, basically, all-remote organization I use it on a daily basis. Thanks to Egnyte, members on my team (Finance) that are spread across the globe can collaborate instantly. It is indeed a very efective tool.

Pros

  • Instant access remotely
  • Simplified and intuitive options for sharing
  • Allows for multiple roles for working on a file

Cons

  • Hard to say as Egnyte fulfills my requirements

Return on Investment

  • Hard to measure ROI but it signifocantly helps to bridge communications across cross-border temas and this is priceless.

Contractor Friendly

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Egnyte for all of our electronic file storage and back-up. I especially like the ease I can share and transfer large drawing files and photos. Moving between the mobile device app and computer software is very easy. Smart Upload is very convenient also it makes the very time consuming task of retrieving photos for any use easy.

Pros

  • Organize Files
  • Track File Movement
  • Make Photos and Files easier to use

Cons

  • network printing instead of air?

Return on Investment

  • I communicate with colleagues better.
  • More information is readily available to share

A Sharepoint Replacement That Feels Like Windows Should

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Egynte is used to supplement Sharepoint's limitations and less ease of use. Egnyte is a cloud-based file storage solution that allows for seamless management sync to end user desktops. Egnyte has better scaling than Sharepoint and a bit more granular security controls than Sharepoint. It is used company wide whenever rolled out including for our company.

Pros

  • Speedy implementation and rollout
  • Quick and easy security layers
  • Ease of use for the end user familiar with file explorer based usage

Cons

  • Storage limits across companies can be cumbersome
  • Extremely large file systems benefit from onsite sync
  • Support is helpful but not always speedy

Return on Investment

  • Once rolled out, Egnyte is a set it and forget it application on the user end
  • Egnyte certainly has a cost, but is worth it for many companies
  • Larger file systems take planning but once implemented are seamless

Alternatives Considered

Microsoft SharePoint, Google Workspace and Box

Decent, but not made for the typical admin.

Pros

  • Sharing files externally with passwords, link expiration and granular control of permissions
  • File syncing across end-user devices using a client installed onto the computer for seamless integration for end-users as if they had mapped a drive directly to their machine
  • Implements 2FA for secure access

Cons

  • Applying mass permissions to multiple folders is non-existent. If you have 15 folders to manage, you have to individually assign the 15 folders permissions to have specific rights (to not be able to delete the folder and to be able to create subfolders)
  • File and folder restoration is only done in increments of 80 items-- per page. That can be 78 files and 2 folders, but those folders don't contain the original items that originally existed within it. Restoring a folder with more than 1000 items is absolutely drudging.
  • There isn't an ability to keep files stored on end-user devices as of yet. OS level applications often times have issues when needing to address [the] entire contents of folders. [A] prime example is for file compression.
  • There isn't an easy way to back up the information from an end user's machine or transfer contents to a local hard drive. Cloud base solutions are available though.

Most Important Features

  • File accessibility across the organization
  • End user familiarity using the File Explorer
  • Folder/File restoration
  • Folder/file security and permissions
  • Ability to share to users outside of the organization
  • Collaboration using O365

Return on Investment

  • This has saved us tons over services like ShareFile and Dropbox and has provided ease of use for the end-users.
  • Administering users Egnyte has been pretty simple and easy, reducing some time spent. Unfortunately, the additional time spent setting permissions within folder templates loses all-time benefits and ultimately [in my experience] can cause wrist-related issues if done in bulk and needing to be done on a deadline.
