Overall Satisfaction with Dropbox

Dropbox is being used at both company and individual level for data sharing. There was a time when Dropbox was only known for file sharing but since the introduction of its business version, it offers an amazing value. Especially when your web of collaboration is vast and complex, a platform like Dropbox can add immense value.
I have been using Dropbox for almost 7 or 8 years now. In my previous assignment, I had to share a lot of product datasheets, video tutorials, and whitepapers. Dropbox was my only savior. In most companies, your email size is limited hence you need a space where your customers or partners can go online to read and download technical and marketing materials.
  • Dropbox Paper offers teams to create, edit and collaborate in a single workspace with top security features. It solves both workplace productivity and collaboration in a single cloud based platform.
  • It allows users to see and access their content whether it is stored in the cloud or on their PC/laptop.
  • Dropbox sync clients are available for Windows, Mac and Linux and in mobile.
  • Dropbox file sync is faster and more reliable than its competitors (like OneDrive and Google).
  • It's expensive, and if you compare it with its competitors, Dropbox Basic gives you 2GB of free storage whereas Google offers 15GB of free storage.
  • Dropbox lacks real-time collaboration in its free version, hence many prefer Google Docs for this.
  • Security is biggest concern with all SaaS based companies like Dropbox.
  • It would have easily cost us thousands had we used any other service for collaboration and file sharing. Or, we would have had to implement our own solution and that would have cost us a fortune.
  • The annual fees for Dropbox business are worth paying when you have 500 plus users.
  • The only negative impact it had on us is that now everyone shares everything on Dropbox without checking access rights. At times, our team members have shared confidential documents that weren't supposed to be shared online.
I have used Box, Google Drive and MS OneDrive. Honestly, most of the company has trust issues with Microsoft and Google as they have a history of leaks and system hacks. Box is good but not as complete a business solution compared to Dropbox. Dropbox is fast and reliable and it doesnt have a history of any major setback as compared to its competitors.
I have been using it since 2007 and have never been disappointed with support (except once, and that's fine). You get an instant reply and follow-up. Their help docs are more than enough to solve most problems.

Do you think Dropbox delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Dropbox's feature set?

Yes

Did Dropbox live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of Dropbox go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Dropbox again?

Yes

If you are sales distribution or Project head then it's an amazing tool to keep your channel partners updated with datasheets, marketing materials, user manuals, white papers, and training manuals. You can also use this for collaboration of any project with real-time synchronization.

If your data is highly critical and sensitive then I wouldn't recommend Dropbox or, for that matter, any SaaS product unless it fulfills your compliance standards.
