Overall Satisfaction with Dropbox
We use Dropbox as our repository for all project and internal work. Templates have been set up so that upon project initiation, all the required folder structures and blank templates have been prepopulated, ready to be created / customised when we progress through the project. Dropbox also acts as our knowledge base as all documentation and knowledge gained from previous projects are also captured here.
- Document repository
- Editing in browser
- Multiple people working on the same document
- Sharing outside own organisation
- Enforcing naming standards to avoid control characters in Windows from Mac Users
- Automatically resolving edit conflicts
- Ability to preview all file types in browser
- We wouldn't be able to run projects without it
- Dropbox captures all our work and knowledge. Internally, we call it DB and it acts as a database for all our work
Dropbox was more flexible and doesn't tie you into Microsoft ecosystem. SharePoint is also more complicated as you can create websites as well as share files and resources.
There's talk of migrating to SharePoint at some point, but we're so used to working in Dropbox no one wants to even think about it yet.
