Overall Satisfaction with Dropbox
Dropbox enables me to seamlessly organize and share materials across platforms. I used primarily Dropbox for supporting my role as a professor but also for organizing my materials related to my career as a DJ as well. Dropbox enables me to archive material, to free up space on individual devices, but perhaps more importantly, to share resources and collaborate with colleagues across the globe.
Pros
- Archive material that is then easy to find
- Seamlessly integrates into desktop and mobile workflows.
- Makes collaboration easy.
Cons
- Different devices have different storage capabilities and so I often have to make certain folders “only available offline” in order to keep hard storage free.
- Function that allows searching for and removing duplicate files would be nice.
- A general “optimize storage”
- Function or perhaps even an AI-assisted tool to organize files.
- I would argue that Dropbox has enabled me to double or even triple my productivity when traveling or moving between the office and home environments.
- Doubles productivity in terms of retrieving and creating playlists for DJ performances
- Allows large-scale storage of drafts and related research for book-length work that is immeasurable in its contribution to workflow
