Overall Satisfaction with Dropbox

I use Dropbox for just about all file storage. I need to be able to access content across devices and Dropbox does it for me. I use the plugin on my macOS laptop that allows me to save to Dropbox like saving to the local hard drive. I've installed the DropBox app on my iPhone and iPad and that allows me to access the same files on those other devices when needed. Those apps aren't as intuitive as I'd like, but that's partly to do with the iPhone and iPad OS generally trying to hide any underlying filesystem.

Pros

  • Use Dropbox like a local hard drive on my laptop
  • Allows file access across devices
  • Storage is secure and fast

Cons

  • The phone and ipad apps are not intuitive. Takes a while to find the file I want.
  • The DropBox web interface has similar issues - not as intuitive as I'd like.
  • The sharing function is also sometimes confusing.
  • Great for ensuring I don't lose important files. I know they'll be there.
  • The interfaces are not intuitive, so even though I know the files are there I often can't find them (search function can't find them either)
  • The cost is okay, but cheaper would be good.
Because it feels like using a hard drive on my laptop, it's dead easy. But on phone and ipad the app is not as intuitive and I sometimes have trouble finding the file i'm looking for. The search function isn't very good - doesn't always find files or folders that I know are there.
Compares well. The two work very similarly on my macOS latop, but I feel Dropbox has the edge on mobile devices. Google Drive web interface seems more intuitive and it's easier to share files and links to files. Both are comparable with price and storage options. Would be good to have a cheaper option.

Do you think Dropbox delivers good value for the price?

Are you happy with Dropbox's feature set?

Yes

Did Dropbox live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of Dropbox go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Dropbox again?

Yes

Great for offline storage. Great for my macOS laptop as it's just like using the local hard drive. Great for accessing files across multiple devices. Using DropBox on my laptop seems about as fast as using the local hard drive. I'm also able to share files or links to files with others, though this function could do with some work to make it less confusing and easier to access.
