Overall Satisfaction with Druva Data Resiliency Cloud

We use Druva inSync as our primary Office 365 email and OneDrive backup solution. All users in our Office 365 tenant have their email and OneDrive protected with Druva inSync. We're able to quickly backup, monitor, and restore data as needed. We simply worry about what data to backup and not about the infrastructure to perform the backup.
  • inSync was easy to deploy. I spend little time managing the software.
  • I never need to worry about buying additional backup hardware. Druva inSync scales with my needs.
  • The user sees no impact during backups
  • Some of the errors you'll get on failed jobs can be ambiguous
  • Druva inSync provides backups without the extra costs and overhead of managing on premise hardware
  • I check the admin console for five minutes in the morning then I'm on to the rest of my day
We protect our Office 365 environment with Druva inSync. We have email and one drive added to backups, then Druva will sync that data between our AD environment. That way you'll be able to see an individuals users cloud applications under a single user profile. The backups run seamless. I rarely have to do anything in the admin console outside of check job status.
I've been using Druva for over 4 years and I've never had to worry about expanding backup storage, or increasing performance of the backup platforms back end. This is all handled seamlessly by Druva. The backend is upgraded fairly regularly to keep all Druva products looking like they are a part of the same managemnet console. With Druva, I don't need to plan to purchace capacity before we "run out of backup space". The backend scales and we simply pay for the backend storage usage.
We currently do not use this feature of Druva.

Druva inSync was already in the environment when I started. I was not involved with comparing other solutions.

Using Druva Data Resiliency Cloud

5 - The represent the Server and Cloud Team. These are the people who may log into the console on a weekly\monthly basis.
1 - We have 5 people who are capable of supporting Druva. But really only 1 person does the day to day on-going support. Even the day to day operations of making sure backups are running is a 10 min daily task. The only extra time we spend in the console is to either protect a new VMware host, or restore a backup.
  • Server backups and data protection
  • Endpoint data protection
  • Office 365 data protection
  • We use the out of the box features and we get the data protection we need
  • Right now we do not leverage multiple AWS data centers. This is very possible with the product, but we are not curretnly leveraging it.
I can't imagine going through the process of vetting another data protection software stack to evaulate if it's a better fit for the company. We did this exercise with a few other products a year or two ago and Druva was hands down the winner. Everything about Druva fits our business model, and we can effectively run the product accross 3000 endpoints and mailboxes, 300+ servers between physical hosts, on prem virtualm or Cloud systems with 1 admin spending less than an hour a week in the admin console.

Evaluating Druva Data Resiliency Cloud and Competitors

  • Price
  • Product Features
  • Product Usability
  • Product Reputation
The single most important factor was Druva being a cloud first SaaS application. While we did have an on prem footprint, the need to buy addtional storage or a physical appliance was not applicaitble with Druva. We can simply use their proxies and protect on prem data without having extra hardware.
There isn't anything I would change. We set the product up for evaul, then continued to use that setup post purchase. It was simple to get started and simple to keep using.

Druva Data Resiliency Cloud Implementation

Change management was minimal - We do not have a standard change managemnt process. The IT Team worked within the IT team and got this taken care of.
We got off the ground quickly with Druva. Across all Druva Products. CloudRanger took less than 10 mintues to setup within our AWS account and get our systems protected.

Druva Data Resiliency Cloud Training

The product is very easy to use without training. You can follow the setup instructions on the web browser and get a system protected quickly. The help feature is very simple to use.

We purchached premium support to have the assurance that if we run into production issues we have the Druva team ready to go and assist if we run into problems. The product works so well, that we open a ticket maybe 3 times a year. It's so easy to use.
On their CloudRanger platform, there is a little "Need help? Chat with us button" at the bottom of the page. I clicked this link and within seconds I had a chat window opened with support ready to go on the other end. I can't remember what I needed help with, but I was blown away that I got help via chat and had my question\issue resolved in under 5 minutes without leaving the admin console page.
Most issues I have can be solved without opening a ticket. But if I need to get in touch with a support agent, I can open a chat request and within minutes have a tech on the end assisting me. The few tickets I had to open were resolved on the first call.

  • CloudRanger can be setup in minutes and you can define your backup polcies within the admin Console. Once those are defined, you can add AWS systems to CloudRanger without leaving the AWS Console.
  • We can setup a new ESX\HyperV host in a matter of 15 minutes and have data backing up to the Druva cloud. This is perfect for our M&As
  • Protecting a few hundred servers requires very little administration. Our daily task list for Druva is simply reviewing any failed backups and correcting the issue. Typically an admin will spend less than 10 minutes a day on the administration end.
  • From what we use of this system. There isn't anything that is cumbersome. This product just works.
I was able to protect and restore our data without the need for formal training on the software. Everything was simple to use out of the box. With CloudRanger, it leverages existing AWS APIs so we can restore with CR or directly within AWS. It's the best of both worlds.
