Overall Satisfaction with GoodData

GoodData is what we use for our semantic and presentation layers. We built our LDM with GoodData and we ingest and refresh monumental amounts of data on a daily basis. We are hoping to transition from a hosted platform to Good Data's cloud platform which will allow for streamlined improvements, updates and changes and will eventually allow us to implement the GoodData CN product
For us, Good Data helps us with our data architecting and modeling. This is huge for us because our entire product is data and dependent on a solid architecture/structure to deliver value
  • Easily visualize the logical data model
  • Add/remove data sources
  • Customize data flow path and what you allow to be analyzed
  • It's such a broad product, it's hard to know what the best practices are
  • Sometimes it's hard to navigate between the presentation layer and the LDM/backend layer with more details
  • I would LOVE to see more customization available in the presentation of the data, it's very restricted with what we can show
  • We would have taken way longer to get our product to market without GoodData
  • Because the presentation layer is not customizable and clean we will have a major lift to design our own and then integrate the GoodData LDM into that
Because it's intuitive for the most part but it's such a complex product that it can be difficult to digest all of it. The GoodData University has been super helpful but getting things off the ground was a little bit more difficult than I hoped it would be. Overall though it's really not bad and if you spend some time in there it becomes easy to use (i'm still learning)
I was not around when this happened
The customizable creation of insights and analytics makes it super easy to create the data views that you need to see once all the data is piped in and the LDM is set up. There is quite a bit of lift to get it going, depending on how big your datasets are, but once it's up it's easy and great
Google cloud platform is huge for us and so is GA. We store all of our data in GCP and then pipe it into GoodData through the integration there which is a game changer because it makes adding new datasets incredibly easy

Do you think GoodData delivers good value for the price?

Not sure

Are you happy with GoodData's feature set?

Yes

Did GoodData live up to sales and marketing promises?

I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process

Did implementation of GoodData go as expected?

I wasn't involved with the implementation phase

Would you buy GoodData again?

Yes

I wasn't involved in the process to decide on GoodData but for our purposes GoodData is more robust than the other two and we needed that to build our LDM in a robust, reliable and scalable way
GoodData is well suited when you have a lot of data sources and you need a single location where you can pipe the data into and then create insights/charts/analytics based on the data you've piped in there. It's also great if you want to customize how the datasets interact with each other and what that logical data model looks like. Super super intuitive there.

I think it's not great for data presentation if your product is presenting data to your customers. For internal use, it's great.
