Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We used GoToMeeting for large-scale meetings for web conferencing and collaboration. This was used largely for the broader meetings that included several departments within the company and generally 100+ people. It would also be used to broadcast desktops and screen share during these meetings to communicate organizational messages or goals to the company.

Microsoft Teams

GoToMeeting seems to have less functionality and does not integrate as well with the Microsoft suite. Calendar invites, streamlining between chat and meetings, document sharing are all more difficult with GoToMeeting. This software would work better in a company that does not use Microsoft products or the Office Suite.

Likelihood to Recommend

I found GoToMeeting to be well suited for meetings where the primary focus is to see people virtually, share a PowerPoint and talk live. I found it challenging in large meetings to check, read and aggregate the chat occurring in the background. I would say it's less appropriate for whiteboarding-type sessions.
